About this listen
Will she be locked away forever? Or can she fight the nightmare that has now become her world?
A dad with a vendetta. An unsuspecting daughter. A psychiatric hospital known for questionable acts. And staff who keep secrets in the attic...
Multi-award-winning author Sandie Will takes listeners on a suspense-filled journey inside a psychiatric hospital from the point of view of a woman trapped inside. Inspired by true events.
On a cold January evening, 14-year-old Jeannie Kynde is told that her beloved mother drowned in the murky waters along Florida's Gulf Coast. Her distraught father turns on Jeannie, no longer the caring father she once knew.
Four years later, Jeannie is finally old enough to escape her father's clutches, but he has different plans. He imprisons her at Deadwater Manor, a psychiatric hospital with an unscrupulous past. Between endless psychiatric treatments and a hospital staff up to no good, Jeannie faces insurmountable odds as each day passes by.

When Margaret and her husband Hal bought the large Victorian house on Hawthorn Street—for sale at a surprisingly reasonable price—they couldn’t believe they finally had a home of their own. Then they discovered the hauntings. Every September, the walls drip blood. The ghosts of former inhabitants appear, and all of them are terrified of something that lurks in the basement. Most people would flee. Margaret is not most people. Margaret is staying.

This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams. Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Story
My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together. But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to?

When Adam Blake lands the best elective ever in his senior year, serving as an aide to the school psychologist, he thinks he's got it made. Sure, it means a lot of sitting around, which isn't easy for a guy with ADHD, but he can't complain, since he gets to spend the period texting all his friends. Then the doctor asks him to track down the troubled freshman who keeps dodging her, and Adam discovers that the boy is Julian - the foster brother he hasn't seen in five years.

Sometimes appearances deceive. Take me, for instance. I look like a respectable doctor with his shit together, but the rural Montana mental hospital I work at is actually a sanctuary from my demons. At just 35 years old, I've already failed on an epic scale. Treating patients at Hawthorne Hill is part of my atonement. I've found peace when a new patient turns me inside out. Allison Cole is a beautiful, haunted survivor who fell into silence after witnessing a murder. But even without words, I'm drawn to her.

Twisted!
Scary! Twisted! Amazing!
The Caging at Deadwater Manor is a sinister psychological thriller that penetrates the readers’ minds with a dark and twisted story about being betrayed by those closest to them. This book rips at one’s heart as the reader sits ringside in the life of an innocent young woman who endures horrific events. The reader enters into a nightmare of a reality that the main character Jeannie has to endure.
Jeannie is a strong and compelling character who is willing to fight for her freedom. The injustices that she faces cause the reader to empathize with her and to root for her to overcome the hellish life that she is living. This book will keep readers on the edge of their seats as they anxiously read through the story waiting for the next tragedy to unfold. This is a must read for those who like to be taken on dark and demented ride.

Amazingly twisty!!
This is the first time I have read a book by this author, but it will not be the last time.
This book was so good right from the very start. It captivated me. It was twisty and psychologically scarring and so good. At different times I thought I may have figured out where the plot was going but I was completely wrong.
I will definitely continue to read this author!

Disturbing!
I grew up in the area detailed in this book and remember all of the places and sights that Sandie Will describes in the story. I felt completely immersed, as if I was there with Jeannie. I loved the evolution of Jeannie and all of her internal conflicts. The twist ending was certainly a surprise. Highly recommend.

Disurbing
The mental hospital is gone now, but I have heard the local’s stories of its sinister existence. DeadWater Manor is an edge-of-your-seat thriller. A must-read for macabre lovers.
