About this listen

Dying is the only thing people do with any regularity, and Fiona makes her indecorous living cleaning up after the corpses are carted away. Her childhood best friend, Mary, was the last known victim of Jack the Ripper. It's been two years since Fiona scrubbed Mary's blood from the floorboards, and London is no longer buzzing about the Ripper, but Fiona hasn't forgotten.

And she hasn't stopped searching for Jack.

When she's called to a murder in the middle of the night, Fiona finds a victim mutilated in an eerily similar fashion to those of the Ripper, and only a few doors down from Mary's old home. The relentless, overbearing, and irritatingly handsome Inspector Grayson Croft warns her away from the case. She might have listened, if she hadn't found a clue in the blood. A clue that will lead her down a path from which there is no return. As a killer cuts a devastating swath through London, a letter written in blood arrives at her door, and it is only then that Fiona realizes just how perilous her endeavor is. For she has drawn the attention of an obsessive evil and is no longer the hunter, but the prey.

Contains mature themes.

Great story and fantastic narrator! Loved all the unique characters! Started book 2 and the narration is disappointing, Fiona barely has her accent!!

Loved Book 1!! Love Fiona!

This was written in first person. I also listened at 1.25 as it increases the tension. It may be a trigger for someone who is sensitive as the murders were gruesome.

The story kept moving and really never slowed. I didn't guess where it was going and it wasn't an expected ending.

This was very intense.

I love all of Kerrigan Byrne's work; and she is so versatile HR, HR fantasy, and now this mystery/detective series. Enjoyed it thoroughly. It's dark and funny and offers a great twist! Great narrator, too.

The story was great and I really enjoyed it. I loved the speaker she was perfect for the voice! I laughed out loud a few times. I love Fionas firey personality and weird job and connections it was great fun to listen to.

Loved the actual Irish accent

Some stories take a few chapters to get into, but not this one. Entertaining from start to finish

This was my first encounter with both the author and the narrator and both were fantastic! I cannot wait to read/listen to Fiona's next adventure.

Loved it!

The narrator was perfect and brought the character to life. The story is a little focused on building a world but still amazing.

A great listen

Enjoyed this interesting read. I’m not usually a Justine Eyre fan, the weird nasal drag she does makes me want to throw my device, but she is not so bad on this one. This story at times is gruesome but not excessively so, if you have read any previous Jack the Ripper stories you won’t be offended. The story is a bit confusing at times because there is apparently a lot of backstory we haven’t been told (to the point that I thought I had missed a book) but most of it makes sense eventually. I will likely listen to the next one.

Interesting story and well performed
