About this listen

Horror is what Dan Law enjoys. He loves to read horror novels as a way to escape from his teaching job, from his loneliness, from the everyday dullness of life in Silver Lake. That’s what Dan lives for. When a new bookstore opens in town, every visitor receives a free book of their own. A book that tells their own personal story...a story they have to follow to the brutal end. As Silver Lake’s population descends into violent savagery, Dan finds he is no longer living for horror novels - he’s living inside one.

What listeners say about The Bookshop from Hell

Highly rated for:

The Audiobook Appears To Be A Horror Story Set In A Small Town, Where A Mysterious Bookstore Opens And Starts Giving Away Free Books That Have A Sinister Effect On The Readers. The Story Is Praised For Its Engaging Plot With Twists And Turns, Well-developed Characters, Suspenseful Narrative, And An Original Concept Revolving Around The Power Of Books. However, Some Listeners Found The Ending Unsatisfying, The Beginning Slow, And The Storyline Repetitive Or Disturbing At Times. The Narration Was Also Criticized By Some As Monotonous. Overall, The Book Seems To Explore Themes Of Horror Fiction, Supernatural Occurrences, Small-town Settings, Obsession And Madness, And The Power That Books Can Hold Over People.

good book!

this was a real good horror book that would put a big smile on Stephen King's face. it is very graphic so just giving a word of warning. I like this narrator, he does an excellent job. I've heard him read other books before and he's good.

Good read

I really like the chaos created by the antagonist. I wish the author would have went into more depth with the antagonist back story. Or created more mystery in the character.
The author should have explained the origins of the language used while reading the book’s.
It’s a great story though.

not for everyone

The story is horror but the non horror parts have issues.. the second chapter has incomplete SA between minors. the male characters are nice guys, with all of the negative connotations that go with that modern definition. TW: intimate scenes described, blood and gore, violence against pets, pet gore, women aren't listened to when they say things like "no i dont want a ride home" and then the main character badgers her until she yells at him to stop.
This book is not written for women who have been abused or SA.
Be careful when reading.

Generic Needful Things

I don't mean my title as insult, the story reminded me alot of Needful Things by Stephen King. It's like comparing name brand food and store brand, it's not as good, but it's not bad.

Nice and creepy

Narrator made the story even better with his creepy voice. I wish it had a better ending though. Would recommend
