One hell of a ride!
Fantastic story! This was a first Aron Beauregard read/listen for me and it won’t be the last! Charachters that you both love and hate, lots of blood, guts, gore. Super entertaining.

I think I’m a fan
Let me start off by saying they Lila Kerry and Aaron Beauregard is a perfect match. I’ve listened to The Slob and Son of the Slob. Aron Beauregard is a great writer even though the content is extremely brutal. This is by far my favorite out of the 3 that I’ve listened too.
It gives a Saw type feel, but I would say this is a bit more brutal. Definitely not for the squeamish.

Overall it felt dragged out. Once the “playground” parts started it became more enjoyable, but very long winded and I found myself tuning out. The narrator did a fairly decent job with what she was given. Unique character voices and since it was mostly children, the narrator having a soft voice played very well but hurt in other areas. Overall felt it could have been cut down to 4hrs giving it a better pace.
Ps. The old woman’s love life is a good example of parts that dragged on for far to long and felt out of place with the story.

Incredible
I haven’t torn through an audiobook like this ever. The narrator was incredible and the content was DISGUSTING. As soon as it ended I was ready to hear it all again. That last chapter broke my heart though…

This was so good! I never thought a story that could make me gag on the freeway driving home would also make me tear up as well. It was the first book I’ve read/listened to by Aron and now I have to read them all - what a way with words!!

Can't recommend it...
Huge fan of eerie and gorey stories but this one wasn't for me. It only had one character in it I actually cared about and felt well written. Lots of torture porn and shock value things that just felt excessive and didn't add to the overall atmosphere or stakes in my opinion. Also felt a weird layer of misogyny throughout the whole thing.
