Too Weird For Me

This definitely wasn't for me. Its the oddest and strangest thing I've ever heard.

Wow. Fantastic.

This book twists and turns so frequently you lose your own direction. It’s creepy, sad, gross, thrilling, terrifying, happy and confusing.
Great ending. Really wraps it all up. I will always recommend this wonderful treasure.

I was worried it was going to be graphic.

I almost returned it after the first few minutes because I thought it was going to be dark and gruesome but it really wasn’t. I’m glad I continued to listen. It turned out to be an interesting story. Well worth the credit I paid for it.

surprisingly beautiful..sad.clever creepy twister

I love the way this book is written... each narrator is vital to the story... with characters you can't help but become attached to... this book is effortless and charming while also very sad and tragic...I highly recommend this book... Christopher Ragland's narration is nothing short of brilliance and the emotion with which he speaks adds charm and heart to a very complicated tragic and heartbreaking story...I absolutely adored this book.

Scary, Surprising, Emotional, Satisfying

I loved this novel. The author definitely surprised me several times with unforeseen twists different than the ones I predicted. And I loved the characters too. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I won’t say a peep more other than to recommend it.

Disappointing

Bleak world of creepy shadow and shape. And not in an ….. appealing way. Relationship btw mommy and teddy ( and, and, and, and) makes the hair on the back of your neck so on and so forth.

I don’t feel right…

Where to start with my thoughts on this book. If I hadn’t been listening in audio form, I absolutely wouldn’t have been able to finish it. The writing is, as others say, difficult to follow in terms of past, present, and current timelines. While I always appreciate the complexities and inner workings of a DID mind, this didn’t unfold or translate in the way I think the author was hoping. The plural first person perspectives were choppy, but got the job done in terms of progressing the story.

It is a definite slow burn until the last two hours or so where things rapidly start to develop. At these moments, you cannot help but grieve the life that Ted had to live. I am definitely torn, because I wish there would’ve been so much more character development within consistent/chronological timelines. I feel like it would’ve allowed the reader or listener to develop a deeper emotional connection with his life’s events.

All in all, there are only specific people in my life I would probably recommend this to, but it was definitely a fascinating listen for both good and not as good reasons. At the end, I wasn’t happy… I wanted so much more from the final moments. Then the Afterword started. Oh how I wish the eloquent way the author spoke in the ending explanation could’ve been woven into the actual story. That was the most compelling part for me.

I WANT to give the story 5 stars...

but the climax was just too unrepentantly goofy. The rest is great, and the narrator does an amazing job aside from the cringe cat noises, but that's not really his fault. Regardless of the climax I would recommend this to anybody, it will most likely make you think about how you preemptively judge people in both positive and negative ways. This is one of those stories where I would say "the journey is more important than the destination."

Hooked from the beginning!! I love the execution of this book, different characters and all the plot twists.
