About this listen

"How can I protect my brother when I'm falling for our alien captor?

One minute I was on a plane with my brother, and the next I – along with every passenger – was waking up on a prison planet overseen by vicious aliens and heartless robotic guards. I need to find my brother and get us out of here, but when I encounter Tetro, I find myself wanting something else.

I can’t trust the man in charge of overseeing all the terrible things happening to me, but there’s more to the alien than his brusque exterior. And soon I realize that he wants out of this place just as much as I do. I shouldn’t be falling for him, but how can I resist when his kisses break down my defenses?

We need to get out, but escape may not be so simple when we fall under the sadistic eye of the prison’s owner. Is there a way to save my brother and keep Tetro close? Or will I be forced to choose between family and the alien I’m coming to love?

Great narration, solid set up for a new series

Narration - the narrator for this one was excellent. It's a dual POV novel, and she does an excellent job at differentiating male and female voices. I really enjoyed her narration style. I do tend to speed up my listening at 1.5-2.0, and even when I did this, the narration was very clear and the voices enjoyable for the characters.

Story - This is a fated mates and prison planet trope. I really enjoyed the set up for this series. Sharon is the prisoner and has an ill brother. Tetro is one of the jailers and recognizes immediately that Sharon is his mate.

Tetro was awesome and I was glad we got his POV. He's definitely an alpha with some baggage. These two get a HEA, however there is a nice set up for additional books in the series to come. So not a cliffhanger, but some unresolved plot points to carry the series.

I'm looking forward to the next novel in this series. I'm a huge Ruby Dixon, alien romance fan, and the set up for this one leaves me wanting more.

Fan-freaking-tastic!

I have to start with saying WOW! I love Roxie Ray stories. I believe her writing is extremely well written and entertaining. I’m a big fan of Sci-fi Romance books and these stories by this author are fantastic! This is another fabulous story. I definitely can’t wait for the next book by this author! This storyline has action, intrigue, suspense, adventure and romance.
The narrator does a fantastic job with the characters and voices of each character making it easy to distinguish between the characters and voices of each character. This narrator does excellent male and female voices.

Meh

I really liked the Lunarian series from this author but this one was just not as good. The characters aren’t as engaging and the setting/world is just awful, hopeless and depressing. Add in a one dimensional evil villain and two pretty stupid main characters and you get meh.

Great Series Starter!

Rating: ❤❤❤❤.5
Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥
Narrator Performance: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

My first Roxie Ray book and I utterly loved it. So much so that I instantly went and grabbed the next book in the series. This was such an imaginative story. The world building was complete and detailed. The hero, Tetro, was truly a hero. He’s a fighter with lots of honor. The heroine, Sharon, was a fighter too as well as a survivor. They both had many admirable qualities. Their romance was easy to root for. I really enjoyed reading about/listening to their adventures in Karcerikus.

The narrator for this was absolutely fantastic. I knew within 20 seconds of her performance that I was going to love it! She drew me into the story immediately and I found it hard to stop listening to her. She performed the story as two different narrators would in a dual performance by reading Tetro’s chapters in one voice and Sharon’s chapters in another. On top of that she used different voices for the secondary characters, her pacing was wonderful and her acting was fabulous.

Pretty Good

I enjoyed how this book was kind of a mind trip in certain chapters, like when Sharon is having her trippy nightmare. The warden is a true awful douche bag a perfect villain. Tetro is an honorable man fighting hard to keep the woman he loves safe in an awful place.
