About this listen

An evil new magic threatens to undo all the progress women have made in the third and final book in Jenna Glass' riveting feminist fantasy series, following The Women's War and Queen of the Unwanted.

In the once male-dominated world of Seven Wells, women now control their own reproduction, but the battle for equality is far from over. Even with two thrones held by women, there are still those who cling to the old ways and are determined to bring them back.

Now into this struggle comes a darker power. Delnamal, the former king of Aalwell, may have lost his battle to undo the spell that gave women reproductive control, but he has gained a terrible and deadly magic - and he uses these new abilities to raise an army the likes of which the world has never seen. Delnamal and his allies seem like an unstoppable force, destined to crush the fragile new balance between men and women.

Yet sometimes it is possible for determined individuals to stem the tide, and it falls to a unique triad of women - maiden, mother, and crone - to risk everything...not only to preserve the advances they have won, but to change the world one final time.

A portion of the author’s proceeds from this book is being donated to Planned Parenthood, in support of women’s reproductive freedom.

WOW 😳

I got the 1st book as part of a sale & thought it a little slow but good. It picked momentum in the 2nd & smashed it in the 3rd book. Long arc, amazing unique world building with a great story.

Good

This book was a good ending to this series. As I got close to the end, though, I had to stop reading it for a little while because it seemed like people that I liked were starting to die and it was sad. some of the people in this book that were nasty conniving people in previous books redeemed themselves a little bit in this book but they still got killed anyway. The one thing that I found was irritating is the three women that seemed like the main characters in this book thought that they had to kill themselves in order to save the kingdom and they apparently seem to think that they were the only ones that could save the kingdom. Some of them I thought were kind of narcissistic and thinking that they were the only ones that could do it. this was definitely a good ending to this series and I’m glad that it’s over because it seemed awfully long.

I want more!

This is a captivating and satisfying third book of Jenna Glasses feminist fantasy trilogy. it will bring you from complacency and satisfaction, through loss and I usher you into brite possibilities.

The narrator does a commendable job of reading smoothly and accurately, but the accent of all the characters is American-midwest or Slavic. More differentiation between speaking characters is needed. I read the first two books in this trio, and listened to the third book (this book) on audible. The books I read were more enjoyable and if you are able to devote time to read, I highly suggest reading this book. As my schedule has been half hazard and hectic lately I am satisfied with this narration. there were places where my mind wandered away from this story, and I could not differentiate speakers by tone nor accent. This made it necessary for me to rewind the recording to a place that I could identify which speaker was which character.

This book wraps up the saga of Women's War. the ending of the characters is satisfying and "believable" (as much as a fantasy world can be); characters were followed to a point where it felt like an ending point for them. However I would love to see more of this world that Jenna Glass has created.

Overall, I am pleased with this book. I love the immersive and dramatic story. It is complex enough to be a book for thoughtful adults, yet fanciful enough to be easily distinguishable from realistic fiction.

This book contains: sex, alcohol, violence and religion, and is not appropriate for children under high school age. It contains limited Wiccan symbolism but no actual mention. If you suspect it might not be appropriate for your needs please thumb through the book to find out for yourself. I was neither disturbed nor shocked by the book, even though some of the imagery is disturbing and shocking.

Great Listen

The best quality of this book is how intelligently it is written. The characters throughout the series have matured so well, and I believe the listener will significantly appreciate that aspect of the story. All in all, this series is worth the credits.

All around wonderful

Truly complicated characters, fully fleshed, fulfilling story arc. Just about perfect. This series has become one of my absolute favorites.
