About this listen

From the bestselling author of The Best of Friends comes a fast-paced thriller about how one woman’s murder unravels the tangled web of lies and deceit connecting a group of Hollywood elite.

When Kiersten McCann, president of the West Hollywood Moms’ Club, turns up dead in her own pool, it quickly becomes clear this wasn’t an accident. And the party guests—all members of the exclusive club—are now key suspects in her murder.

Accusations fly, and three mothers find themselves at the center of the investigation. Whitney, Brooke, and Jade all have heavy secrets to bear…and possible motives for their friend’s murder. But as the police look closer, more secrets, betrayals, and sinister plots are revealed than the women could ever imagine.

With everything at stake, deceit threatens to shatter their illusions of the perfect life. West Hollywood will never be the same.

It takes a level of excellence in order to write an entire novel that includes not one likeable character. From the victim, to the antogonist and all the characters inbetween, there is an absence of redeemable traits, and the listener is incapable of empathising or sympathising with any character. In fact, the story is a constant toss up as to which character is more stupid, more annoying, more callous and more insidious. Strangely, this very criticism, made the novel deliciously entertaining- all be it a guilty pleasure.

Uconventionally Good

DNF. I really tried. I got to Chapter 31 and I can't finish it. I really don't care who the murderer is in this one.

Kinda boring

This was a pretty good listen. Had me going. The end did not disappoint. I recommend! 5/5🫶🏻

Jaw dripping!

I never saw that ending coming! I knew from the get go one of them was being wrongfully targeted but man this ending takes the cake! Lucinda, I have said it before and I'll say it again you are an evil genius who never fails to make me feel like a judgemental jerk. Please keep that up!

Never saw it coming!

A little far fetched, a little over the top, but still a great read! I liked it a lot!

Good twists

Wow! Just wow! Dr. Berry did it again! This was such a good story! Narrated beautifully. This one was a wild ride, like the rest of her books!

Right when you think you know you don’t.. it kept me guessing and jaw dropping here and there.. talking about a pilot twist!!

That was a whole lot of f%^cked up! Just when you think things couldn’t get weirder… 😆 I’ll stop before I ruin it, but first, I have to comment on Brooke. The narrator slayed it with this character. She reminded me so much of a younger version of Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge’s character) in White Lotus. Brilliant deep dive into her head—so transparent and yet somehow, dare I say, relatable! 🤣

Well played

Can’t lie- loved it. Didn’t adore all of the narrators, but once I got past it, they were all right for their roles. Unlikely twists, yes. But this is a fun, devious, mysterious storyline with some, sadly, pretty relatable characters. It can’t be easy to make people this likeable and unlikeable all at the same time. Worth a credit.

Keep these friends locked in a padded room

This book read like a trashy reality show in the best way! It was a car crash of friendships/relationships that you just couldn’t look away from!!

The best type of thriller/mystery
