About this listen

Pike Logan tracks highly-trained Russian assassins to Brazil in this blistering, action-packed thriller from New York Times best-selling author and former Special Forces Officer Brad Taylor.

Pike Logan and the Taskforce were once the apex predators, an unrivaled hunting machine that decimated those out to harm the United States, but they may have met their match. While Pike Logan and Jennifer Cahill prepare to join their team on a counter-terrorist mission in the triple frontier - the lawless tri-border region where Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay meet - they are targeted in Charleston, South Carolina. A vicious explosion kills a friend, and the perpetrators have set it up to look like an accident. While the authorities believe this was not foul play, Pike knows the attack was meant for him.

When he loses contact with the team in South America, Pike is convinced he and the Taskforce are under assault. His men are the closest thing to family that Pike has, which means he will do anything, even ignore direct orders to stand down, to find them. Pike and Jennifer head to Brazil to investigate their disappearance, and run headlong into a crew of Russian assassins. Within days, they are entangled in a byzantine scheme involving Brazilian politics and a cutthroat battle for control of offshore oil fields.

Forged in combat, the Russians are the equal of anything the Taskforce has encountered before, but they make a mistake in attacking Pike’s team, because Pike has a couple of elite Israeli assassins of his own. And Pike will stop at nothing to protect his family.

As usual!

As usual Brad Taylor never disappoints, and Rich Orlow always delivers! Unfortunately I saw the “bomb” coming, but it developed one hell of a ride. Only negative aspect of any Brad Taylor/Pike Logan thriller is the waiting for the next book to drop!

Another Brad Taylor winner!

Author Brad Taylor's decision in the Exit Fee novella released in October 2019 to make the 13 year old Syrian refugee girl Amena a part of the Pike Logan series is an excellent one. Amena was introduced in Daughter of War which was Book 13 in the Pike Logan series.

HUNTER KILLER is Book 14 in the Pike Logan series. The novel will likely get some criticisms for making Logan too much of a superman type character. Although I can see the reasons for such criticism I disagree. Much of this novel is set in Brazil where Russia is seeking to take over the oil industry (and the Brazilian presidency). The audio novel is not especially long at 11.5 hours but it does have multiple plot lines each having its own building of suspense. Overall it is a marvelous novel. The Taskforce members are all present including the Mossad pair who now seem full members of the team.

The first 12 novels in the series used two narrators usually with Henry Stozier doing the third person narrating and Rich Orlow being the first person Pike Logan. The two most recent series novels utilize Orlow for all of the narrating. I prefer the Stozier-Orlow duo to the current Orlow only narrations and wish the series would return to the two narrator format.

I rate HUNTER KILLER 5 stars, but in my view Brad Taylor remains second tier among current espionage thriller authors clearly behind Mark Greaney, Ben Coes, jack Carr, and Kyle Mills/Vince Flynn. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend the Pike Logan series.

Positively full of Suspense

lThis is fantastic book, you are brought into a fast moving plot right from the beginning. You need to make the time to read it in one sitting because if you get into it you will not want to put it down. All the characters are fantastic, the team works like a well oiled machine. The suspense will keep you going to the end....

Keep it Going

One of, if not the, finest in the Pike Logan, series. Action keeps going, the characters continue to develop, and Rich Orlow is on point. Strong effort all around.
