About this listen

On America's newest combat base, U.S. Air Force aerial warfare expert Major General Patrick McLanahan and his crew of daring engineers are devising the air combat unit of the future. Known as Air Battle Force, it can launch concentrated, stealthy, precision-guided firepower to any spot on the globe within hours. And soon McLanahan and his warriors will have their first target.

Chased out of Afghanistan, Taliban fighters are planning to invade the neighboring oil-rich Republic of Turkmenistan, an isolated and wealthy central Asian state. As alliances form and forces collide, the impending battle for control of the world's largest oil deposits threatens to tear apart the tenuous peace created by America's victories in Afghanistan. It's up to McLanahan and a handful of American commandos half a world away, aided by an untested and unproven force of robotic warplanes, to win a war in which everyone, even "friendly" forces at home, wants them to fail.

It is a good book to show the United States military might, political, calm against Russia, and crushing strength to accomplish the mission.

Good Book

Keeps you at the edge of your seat. Makes you want these aircraft and want to fly them yourself. In the long version, there are times that it drags. But the characters have enough other stuff going on that it is OK. You cannot have action every minute of a 14 hour book! The action here is great though.

Spellbinding

Awesome book, okay narrarator. He sounds like an idiot when he does the Rebecca's voice. Overall, awesome.

I enjoyed a lot. Specially the realism of the scenes inside the fighter and bombers.

great military novel

The story is 90% nothing and 10% action.
When it started being interesting, it seems the author just wanted to ended at any cost, like someone who had enough.
Very disappointing

Very slow and a lot of narration

Engaging characters and plot as always. A lot of fast-paced action and of course, plenty of toys. What some listeners may find distasteful are some of the questionable alliances formed by the heroes in the story. At any other point in history, they may simply have added intrigue but probably not a good move on Brown’s part in this political climate. Some enemies are those of circumstance; some are those of principle.

Story/plot well developed. Action well paced and refined. Characters matured and 3 dimensional. Narration enhances experience. Highly recommend if you like genre

More town tech magic

I buy these books for the flying stories. When we finally get to that they’re good.
There is far too much time and energy spent listening to Arabs arguing as planning destruction. I skipped through all of it. Many chapters I just skipped through.

Like arguing Arabs?

Had to go back in the series to find out how certain characters came about... I was NOT disappointed. If you like the Dreamland series you have to have this in your library.

Excellent read
