About this listen

A hulked-out wrath demon who eats gamer rage and loves cats, a shapeshifting lust demon who enjoys their food a bit too much, and a void demon who doesn’t see the point of any of this. They’re not the sort of mercenaries you'd hire on purpose, but Bex wouldn’t trust her life to anyone else.

Ever since the ancient Mesopotamian king Gilgamesh decided death wasn’t for him, killed the gods, and conquered the afterlife, times have been rough for a free demon. But the denizens of the Nine Hells aren’t the quitting sort, and Bex and her team have been choking a living out of the Eternal King’s lackeys for years. This next gig looks like more of the same…until Bex meets the client.

Adrian Blackwood is a witch with a problem. His family has skirted the edges of King Gilgamesh’s ire for centuries, but thanks to a decision he made as a child, Adrian is personally responsible for putting his entire coven in Heaven’s crosshairs.

Determined to set things right, Adrian drags his broom, caldron, and talking cat thousands of miles across the country to Seattle where he can fight the Eternal King’s warlocks without bringing the rest of his family into the fray. But witchcraft takes time, and if the warlocks catch him before his spells are ready, he’s dead. So Adrian does what any professional witch would do and hires a team of mercenaries to keep the warlocks off his back. He didn’t expect to get demons, but when you’re already on Heaven’s bad side, what’s a bit more fuel on the fire?

Neither Adrian nor Bex knew what to expect when they signed their contract, but witch-plus-demon turns out to be a match made in the Hells. With this much chaos at their fingertips, even impossible dreams start to come back into reach, because Bex wasn’t always a mercenary. She used to be the Eternal King's biggest nightmare, and now that she’s got a witch in her corner, it’s time to show Adrian Blackwood just how much Hell he’s hired.

Superb new world and characters in another action-packed romp

Aaron has done it again, giving us a whole new world in which to enjoy her outstanding craft. While many of the themes will be familiar, Aaron has created something fun and wonderful that delighted me. I blazed through this book, sacrificing sleep and productivity. Loved the world building and as usual with Aaron, loved her characters and the obstacles they face, overcome, and the new crises that arise from the ashes to challenge the protagonists anew. Can’t wait for the next book! This is already a must-read.

Amazing new world to explore

I've loved every book published about the DFZ, so I have this one a chance and I'm so glad I did. I wasn't to know what

Ms Aaron is a world building genius.

Author does yet another fascinating, non derivative storyline. the voice actor on this was top notch as well.

my new favorite series

totally worth it !!! I will read until the wheels fall of a dilapidated RV
characters are pretty amazing, and the plot is strong with subtle world builds
the CHARACTERS will keep you reading and the Audible version is worth it if you hit the can't put it down phase -

Good start to a new series.

I enjoyed the confident but not over powered mc. My only complaint is that a few characters made decisions that felt out of character for the sake of story progression.

Fun

I wasn’t sure at first if I was going to like this but by the end of the book, I was hoping for another! It’s not perfect and could definitely be better but still fun and enjoyable.

Didn't stop listening until the much-too-soon end

I was enthralled from the very first moments, just as I hoped. This book was good on its own and will I believe the series will get even better. I have loved Aaron since Nice Dragons Finish Last (and every other book in the Heartstrikers series, then the D. F. Z. series; I also love the Eli Montpress series and the Crystal Calamity series!) I cannot wait for the rest of this series! The narrator and effects were all top-notch and awesome, aiding the story in keeping me entirely immersed in this fascinating world. 5/5 very deserved stars across the board!

Another Fantastic Book by Rachel Aaron!

Rachel Aaron creates amazing worlds, fantastic stories and great characters. Hell for Hire has all of these elements and the narrator, Nicholas Cain did an outstanding job bringing the story to life. I'm looking forward to the next books in this series!
