Davis Reed is plagued by the three A's: anger, alcohol, and anxiety. The true story of a B-25 bomber that crashed on Cold Mountain in western North Carolina just after the end of World War II.

From the comfort of a mountain cabin in Cruso, North Carolina, Davis spends his days popping anti-anxiety pills, drinking copious amounts of home-brewed beer, and not writing. But when he discovers a set of keys on a mountain trail, he becomes curious and then obsessed with finding the rightful owner. With the help of his friend Dale Johnson, a 275-pound local deputy who is full-time ornery and part-time clever, and Dale's cousin Floppy, a motor-mouthed mechanic with a penchant for conspiracy theories and kleptomania, Davis works to uncover the mystery of the keys while navigating a world of small-town secrets, shady characters, '80s heavy metal, and murder.

But Davis has his own secrets, and even though he's escaped to the mountains, some bad business in Charleston is beginning to catch up with him. For an anxiety-riddled man looking for peace and quiet, he somehow stumbles into more chaos and crossfire than any amount of beer and pills can alleviate.

Fast read!

Funny with a twisted mystery that makes you want to listen until you’ve reach the end.

Excellent 1st novel

Easy read with flowing dialog. Good story line that keeps you interested. I recommend this book.

Small towns

This book took me back to my childhood in small town Morocco, Indiana. I just loved this book it had me laughing and smiling from beginning to end. The characters were wonderful. This book perfectly depicted small town life where everyone knows everyone or is related to them. Well written and narrated a must read if you grew up in a small town or just like to laugh a lot. I really enjoyed the narrator he did a excellent job.

I would recommend to my friends!! Loved that I knew the places the author described. Interesting twists and turns in this book!

Great story from WNC!

I have to say I was hooked by the narration. I can actually visualize the characters. I'd love to see this as a movie!!! we have several local actors like Nick Searcy and Sean Bridgers who would be perfect for this story! Please make it a movie! And film it here in WNC!

Good story

I really like the story. the first half almost lost me but the funny lines and was easy to listen to. I am glad I did the last half the book was super great and worth effort .

Felt like I knew the characters

A great southern mystery. Dale is the perfect sidekick/friend/kinfolk. I thought it perfectly represented the low country as well as almost any southern country town. Great story, narration, and it all wrapped up neatly and believably. Just a great story.
