Absolute best of the series
This is a wow story! Very complex. It keeps the reader guessing who did it. I loved, loved, loved listening to the audio version. The narrator was very good at the different voices. I was engaged the entire time, so much so that I continued to listen after I got out of my car and went on to feed my very noisy sheep and geese when I got home even though the dialog was hard to hear and I had to rewind to make sure I continued to follow the plot. My sheep don't nicker like Zoe's horses, they bah and bah loudly<g>. I can't wait for the next Zoe Chambers mystery to be published. I've read/or listened to every one of her books in this series. This one was more on the crimes and less on some of the ancillary characters, their backstories, and Zoe and Pete's relationship, but that did nothing detract from this page-turning story.

The twists and turns of each story.
I have become immersed in this series as I finished book 11. Following a town, the local community and their connections to each other has kept me coming back for the next in the series. The goodness of the community and everyone involved while trying to help each other through difficult situations is so heartwarming. In these crazy times Zoe and her community give me hope for humanity.
