About this listen

When Danielle Boatman inherits Marlow House, she dreams of turning it into a seaside bed and breakfast. Since she's never visited the property, Danielle's not sure what awaits her in Oregon. She certainly doesn't expect to find one of the house's previous owners still in residence. After all, the man has been dead for almost 90 years - shouldn't he have moved on by now?

Charming Walt Marlow convinces Danielle the only way he can move on is if she solves the mystery of his death. Danielle soon discovers her real problems may come from the living - those who have their sights on Marlow House's other secrets.

THE FIRST 15 MIN OF THE BOOK

Pay very close attention to the first 15 minutes of this book (of every book in this series for that matter) - I always see myself re listening to the book, right after I finish it, there is that AH HA moment. She drops some hints along the book but you do not quite get the mystery until the very end, but its all there, it was all said. So I listen again and go *ah I see what you are doing here* I love it! I love love love this book, in this book in particular, you will get to know Danielle and some of her friends. The author does such a great job with the length and rhythm of the book. I could seriously play and do not stop it until the end, there is no boring parts or fillers, you will stay engaged to the story from the very beginning till the end.

Fun story. On to the next.

This was great, easy, mystery listening material. My only complaint: I wasn’t a huge fan of the story teller’s voice. I will still go forward with this series but I’m bummed this same voice will be telling me multiple books worth. It’s was kind of child like (teen) sounding and I thought she put inflection in weird places. Sometimes I imagined the tone of the characters being different than how she chose to read them. Oh well, I liked the story enough to continue.

Not a Ghost Story

If you are expecting a true ghost story, this isn’t it. This is a cozy mystery narrated by someone who must of watched a lot of Matlock and Murder She Wrote. The story isn’t half as bad as the narrator’s voice. She sounds more like she’s trying to sell a time share in Bermuda than narrate a novel. Remember the voice on ‘welcome to movie phone’ or the man who says he hopes you’ve enjoyed your audible at the end of your book? Imagine...

Narration Downer

story was very interesting, but at times I had trouble listening to it due to the female narration. Due to a whiny child like boys, I felt the story was geared towards a young adult, or teen, which made it hard to listen to. Would have enjoyed this, immensely, if the female narrator had a deeper more adult voice.

Meh

It was not great or terrible. Since it was free all I have is meh. Not something I would have been happy to pay for.
