London, 1922. Between gallivanting in his Rolls-Royce and darkening the doorways of London's hotspots, Lord Reginald "Rex" Bankes-Fernsby has almost succeeded in banishing the battlefield nightmares that plague his sleep. Pity he can't say the same about that nagging lack of direction in his life. If only he were like his best friend Freddie—self-assured, suave, and up to his ears in secrets. Publisher's summary
An isolated island. A savage storm. An English murder mystery.
A storm is raging over Damson Island, a desolate yet beautiful rocky outcrop off the south coast of England.
The island's magnificent main house belongs to theatre director Randall Dobson, a man desperate to have his play ready for its West End stage debut. With time running out, he asks leading cast members to attend final rehearsals there, and Henry Fleming is invited by his old friend, the veteran actress Lady Mabel Garfield, to join them.
Cut off from the mainland by the storm, tensions rise, accusations fly and secrets are whispered. But despite old rivalries resurfacing and jealousy rearing its ugly head, it still comes as a shock when one of their number is brutally murdered.
Who among the guests is capable of such an act? With no way of reaching the mainland, private detective Henry Fleming must sift fact from fiction and uncover the truth if he is to answer the question: who among them has a motive for murder?
For fans of Poirot, Miss Marple, Columbo, Jessica Fletcher and all their wonderful whodunnit / howdunnit mysteries.

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

There’s a literary niche for all tastes including those who think that either Agatha Christie wasn’t funny enough or that PG Wodehouse didn’t feature anywhere near as many baffling murders as he could have. The Case of the Canterfell Codicil is a classic, cozy, locked-room mystery written in the style of an homage to PG Wodehouse.

Not as good as
Although the pathway for the murderer was EXCELLENT, there wasn't a side plot that was interesting...as there was in Mystery at Watermeade Manor, my favorite so far.
