About this listen

It's my duty to the family...

King

When I go to work for the Valentis, I don’t expect my first assignment to be my biggest challenge—marry the daughter of a rival boss.

Wild and smart-mouthed as she is beautiful, Eliza Pomponio’s nothing but a bratty princess who’s always gotten her way. And she seems determined to push all my buttons.

Everyone is counting on us to keep peace between the New York families, though, so that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Even if it proves the hardest thing I've ever done.

Eliza

In one moment, my freedom is snatched away when my father tells me I have to marry a man I’ve never met.

I expect an 80-year-old retired boss who craves my virgin flesh in payment for his service. Bright side—in a few years, he’ll be gone, and I’ll be free again.

I’m not prepared for the dangerously gorgeous soldier my father presents. Like anything that looks too good to be true, so is my new husband. He’s cold, cruel, and worst of all, young.

Suddenly, marriage is a life sentence.

That is, if I don’t show him from day one that no one controls Eliza Pomponio.

This book is not intended for those with triggers or listeners under 18. This title was previously published as Mafia Princess. It has been largely rewritten and contains new material and dark content.

one of the biggest things about audio that I look for (especially if I have already read the book) is how much it brings the characters to life! This is by Far my favorite audio for Selenas books so far! absolutely impressed, obsessed and in love! this brought King Dolce to a whole new level!

brought this to life!

Not surprising the story had a lot of depth and darkness, which you can expect from a Selena story. I thought the plot was well done and I liked the evolution of Eliza. I also like that King got a story as I've definitely been following the Dolce's. We do get a happy ending, but like other Selena stories, there are potential triggers, so keep that in mind.

I enjoyed this as an Audible book. The narrators did a good job taking you into this world.

King + Eliza

If you like the Mafia this is the book for you arranged marriages young people don't like each other. the only thing that is kind of annoying is the wife that King is married to Eliza she does want to be with him but she doesn't want to be vulnerable to him cuz all the messed up stuff that happens in her world or her past so she goes back and forth trying to figure out if she wants him or not and that's freaking annoying.

Very good book

I liked the story. I liked the depth and how everything tied together. I was not expecting the reason for Elise’s issue. I don’t know if this was done on purpose but there were definitely parts from the female narrator that she came off very whiny. Maybe that is what the author asked for, idk, but I couldn’t take much more of it.

Intriguing

If you like mafia arranged marriage stories, this one is pretty good. It's not nearly as dark or smutty as some of Selena's other books but it's solid. But the narrators kind of ruined the audiobook for me. Not because they were bad necessarily but because the characters are 18/19 years old and they SOUND like they're 45. It kind of takes away from the sense in this book that King and Eliza are barely more than kids thrust into an adult world trying to deal with adult problems.

Good Story

I had high expectations for this book, but it just fell flat. The best thing about it was the narration IMO

Not my favorite by Selena

reading clips- I thought it would be a little better. fmc was too confusing- listening but not really listening to what the mmc was telling her. also- the audio starts at chapter 6. I had downloaded the book to read along when I couldn't listen and was so confused when chapters weren't lined up. would have been nice to know that before purchasing

eh- also not a complete audio narration

I really wanted to like this book I did. I thought I had potential when I was reading the descriptions and the reviews. unfortunately it very much disappointed me and this is the first time I’ve ever actually wanted to write a review about it. Personally, I like slow burns when it comes to a hating to love each other type of story I like seeing the hate be genuine. It was not with this book. It very much switched to loving each other immediately and I was like OK that’s boring, and unrealistic. it also had many gaps of the plot, and it later was like revealed in a very rushed pace at the end. I was also expecting that when reading the description of Eliza and him saying how she’s a spoiled brat I thought it would be his like first perception of her and then maybe would be wrong. He was not. She is a spoiled brat. I did not like her for the most part. It also made no sense for her to reveal her traumatic past right off the bat right after he traumatizes her, himself. It also just made no sense with the other things that were going on with the plot like they were fully focused on each other, while things were happening that were arguably more important. But besides this, not being my type of writing and type of plot development, the book is not terrible. It’s just not the best I’ve ever seen, and I have read books like this before and I still have never written review.

i didn’t want to finish it
