About this listen
There’s a reason why everyone says “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” If you’re striving to reach ambitious goals, it’s impossible without the right relationships. So, how do you reverse-engineer relationships with the exact people you want to know?
Through his podcast B2B Growth and his company Sweet Fish Media, James Carbary has pioneered a concept called content-based networking - a new approach to building your professional network. Instead of relying on chance encounters and random in-person events, content-based networking allows you to connect with anyone, at any time, and from anywhere in the world.
In Content-Based Networking, you’ll learn a proven three-part framework to consistently connect with potential customers, investors, referral partners, industry influencers, and anyone in between. Using this framework, you’ll develop thought leadership in your industry, while simultaneously creating meaningful relationships with the exact people that can help you reach your goals and dreams.

One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all. Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking.

Story
There's no shortage of networking and entrepreneurship advice in books and on social media in today's world-but it's harder than ever to know what's authentic. To make matters worse, taking the wrong advice can result in superficial connections, transactional relationships, and unsatisfying interactions with others without any real rapport. Fortunately, as entrepreneur and marketer extraordinaire Joe Polish has discovered, there's a simple (though sometimes not easy) way out that begins with one question: "What's in it for them?"

Customers, followers, subscribers. It's easy to just look at the numbers. How many likes? How many purchases? How many email subscribers? But as entrepreneurs, we have to remember that there are people behind all that data. People who are looking to us to be a leader, to give advice, and to care. Humans are, in a word, irrational, basing decisions as much on subtle external signals (that little blue can) as on objective qualities (flavor, price, quality). The surrounding world, meanwhile, is irreducibly complex and random. This means future success can’t be projected on any accounting spreadsheet. To strike gold, you must master the dark art and curious science of conjuring irresistible ideas: alchemy.

In Silicon Valley slang, a "bozo explosion" is what causes a lean, mean, fighting machine of a company to slide into mediocrity. As Guy Kawasaki puts it, "If the two most popular words in your company are partner and strategic, and partner has become a verb, and strategic is used to describe decisions and activities that don't make sense"...then it's time for a reality check.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, an intrapreneur, or a not-for-profit leader, there's no shortage of advice on such topics as writing a business plan, recruiting, raising capital, and branding. In fact there are so many books, articles, and websites that many startups get bogged down to the point of paralysis, or they focus on the wrong priorities and go broke before they discover their mistakes.

Book for podcast professionals
One of the best books written about the value of the podcasting industry. I recommend this to all my clients now.
I’m a podcast producer, and I have been looking for some way to communicate how to leverage a podcast into business growth...James hit it out of the park with how he breaks down content based networking. This has helped me get clients, this has helped my clients get clients, and it can work for you.
James, thank you. This book is a blessing!

Create a platform to Spotlight People if Interest.
James has a great job explaining how if you keep your name out there and then create a social dynamic through podcasting You can make your potential business connections aware of your skills and abilities while at the same time providing value and benefit to them through the marketing of your podcast. My quick takeaway. I'd recommend giving it a listen it's not that long but very insightful especially if you've already had these ideas and haven't acted yet. like myself

Excellent advice, entertaining to listen to
When this book was referred to me, I knew absolutely NOTHING about content based networking. Two weeks later, I am planning a podcast - no joke - and I actually think it will be a very successful tool for my business because I’m going to follow the advice James lays out in this book.
Full disclosure, I know James. But that is not why I’m giving this book my full, sincere endorsement. It is simple and brilliant, and I’m glad I found it when I did. Highly recommend, even if you’re not considering your own content production, because it will help you understand the value of relationships and examine how others are using this too very effectively. Great work, James, and thank you for sharing your wisdom!

Excellent book!
Not only is the content of this book great, but James lives out what he teaches. I’ve personally learned so much from following James on LinkedIn.
He talked about taking people out to eat to build on relationships in the book. When I flew to Orlando a few months back, he picked me up and bought me breakfast.
This guy is the real deal!

Extremely eye opening strategy
This book was amazing. It was so good that I listened to it all in one sitting. The book gave me a step by step process to follow on how to create my own content-base networking plan. Highly recommend 🙂
