About this listen

In this exhilarating new thriller from number-one New York Times best-selling author Stuart Woods, Stone Barrington must go up against an enemy with deadly intentions - and ideologies.

Stone Barrington and his friends are vacationing in Maine when their leisure is suddenly disrupted by extreme weather. To make matters worse, the inclement conditions allow for a menacing adversary to sneak in unnoticed and deliver a chilling message. Soon it becomes clear that the target of the incident is one of Stone's closest companions, and that these enemies have a grander scheme in mind.

From the bustling streets of New York City to the sun-drenched shores of Key West, Stone intends to nab the criminals that appear behind him at every step. But his search only leads him further down a trail of peril and corruption, and he'll soon find that at the end of the road is a more dangerous foe than he could have imagined....

Choppy waters was a nice change

From the Russian mafia or angry ex husbands. I look forward to more creativity from Stuart Woods but I do wish he would leave the f words to Deno and his cops. It would add a bit of class to these books if the f word could be limited to those who one would normally expect. I know this is based in New York where the F word is part of their every day language but Stuart should k ow that is not the case for most of the country. Don Pearce

Accuracy

Implausible story and situations as I have grown to expect and enjoy in the Barrington series. However, the outright errors should be fixed in the future, to wit Stone has used a Cessna 182 for 5 people and baggage in several novels. Note that a 182 seats four including the pilot. In addition its useful load is about 1000 pounds, marginal for even four adults and baggage. Have Stone spring for a Cessna 306, six seater with 1400 pounds useful load. He can afford it.

Stone Barrington is losing steam

I've listened to every Stone Barrington book in the series and unfortunately it looks like woods is running out of ideas because the stories are getting to be very thin and not as interesting as they used to be.

Keep your politics OUT!!!

I’ve purchased and enjoyed all of the Stone Barrington novels but this may be the last one for our family.

The characters and the narrator are so familiar and feel almost like friends. The problem with the author has been getting worse over the last few novels. It’s no fun to be constantly preached to with his liberal views and constant bashing of any main character that is considered conservative. Now, he rips on Fox News and conservative characters constantly and it’s stupid. People buy these types of books for joy and to get away from the nastiness of the news.

It’s difficult to take one seriously that flies his own private jet and lives so well after creating such a wonderful line of good books. We love your product SW and enjoy supporting you, but after not finishing the last 2 of 47, we may have come to the end.

Enjoy the freedom of your views, but please respect those on the other side and don’t force your views on others. For this reviewer, strong family values, working hard for the family, paying taxes and loving the USA does not seem to be so bad... so please stop using the wonderful world of Stone to talk down to us.

Please stick to what made SB so popular.

Hard to listen to

Though the story kept our interest, the narration was too stuffy and made all the characters old and stuffy. It could have been very enjoyable with a contemporary voice.

Politics

I rarely write a review. I have read every Stuart Woods novel twice. Each novel has been creeping closer and closer to politics. Quite honestly, I have enough politics in real life. If you prefer a more conservative view of politics, skip this one. I am sad because Stone Barrington has ALWAYS been my escape.

Stone delivers once again.

Stuart Woods is the best! I can’t wait for a new Stone Barrington book. Thank heavens he delivers us one a few times a year.

Excitement deficiency.

I have listened and read many of his books. This one was not up to the mystery and intrigue that I have come to know and love in Stone Barrington books.

President Holly

Knew this change in the Series would come. Thought it would work out differently. I guess the next book will be the Inauguration. Hope it is better than this story, which seemed tedious. Still a fan, but disappointed in this book.
