Bloodsuckers—fanged and feral creatures who don’t play by the vampire rules—now far outnumber humans. All the major cities have fallen. Life is an ongoing struggle to simply survive.

However, nineteen-year-old Lance Black has spent the past several years living with his mother in Out of Harm’s Way County. The few residents there have stayed alive by not drawing attention to themselves. It’s a lonely existence, but it keeps them from falling prey to the monsters…

…until Lance, walking through the forest, finds a stranger named Bill Tremaine covered in blood. He’s so badly injured that he’ll be lucky to make it through the night.

Yes, bloodsuckers did this to him, but Bill insists he killed his attackers. No more are following him. Everything is fine. It’s all good.

He is, of course, dead wrong. And when the bloodsuckers show up at Lance’s front door, he discovers this menace is far worse than anybody in the county ever realized.

Always A Treat

As is usual from Jeff, the perfect blend of horror, action, and laughs. A little on the short side, but I think I prefer that over never ending apocalypse books, which there are far too many of. Narration is top notch, to boot.

Bloodsucker County

If you’re looking for an entertaining horror romp, Jeff Stand is always your man. Great blood soaked horror fantastically narrated by Scott Thomas.

Three Nights Fending the Undead

A hostage siege horror thriller with a scallywag and a broken family against the horde. It's a nicely microscopic small scale tale about characters in a bigger post apocalyptic hellscape. Jeff Strand is an author who excellsl at infusing the grim with humorous banter. Scott Thomas well narrates the stuff with a brisk upbeat voice perfect for the blend of nightmare and wit. BC doesn't overstay it's welcome and might even be a bit short but that works well for being character driven rather than entirely bloody horror minded content. It paints broad strokes of a grim reality and then illuminating the hopeful inhabitants of a county and their mysterious stranger. It's got gnarly twists and some that are fun with a vibe of never being quite sure who or where to trust. Hopefully we see more from this world.
