The way I don’t know how to feel about this man 😩
I went through so many emotions throughout listening to this audio. The narrators did such an amazing job at bringing the characters to life. You could feel the emotion and the depth to the characters. It had perfect pacing and it nearly made it impossible to walk away from this book. Once you start, make yourself comfortable, it’ll take over your life.
I didn’t love the marriage of convenience trope, but the way it was done was pretty good! It kept my attention. I needed to know what happened.
In the end, I loved these two characters together. I teared up at the end. But this is definitely not my favorite of the series.

Story
When grumpy, muscled-up artist Bennett Bishop bothers to speak, it’s usually to say something you’re not ready to hear. When he first speaks to Norah Ellis, a rambling runaway bride who hitchhikes a ride from him, it’s to tell her to get out of his truck and walk because she’s a pain in the a-s-s. By appearance, Norah Ellis is a fancy fashionista who’s spent the last several years living the good life in the city—expensive apartments, highbrow events, and a fiancé with wealth and good looks. The only problem is that she didn’t choose any of it for herself.

I didn’t see this story hitting me the way it did. I loved the FMC, she had the best inner dialogue, I cracked up so many times.
The story had a little bit of everything. I love a small town story and the way she’s a city girl trying to fit in was obvious. I loved the whole small town acceptance vibe though. So heartwarming!!!
The narrators really brought this story to life for me. The emotion was palpable. The pacing was perfect, I just was so captivated by the story.
Get some tissue ready though. This was a bit rough at moments, but so worth it to read to the end.

Story
I’m not attracted to men.. Or so I thought before I slammed into Nikolai Sokolov.. A mafia heir, a notorious bastard, and a violent monster.. An ill-fated meeting puts me in his path. And just like that, he has his sights set on me. A quiet artist, a golden boy, and his enemy’s twin brother. He doesn’t seem to care that the odds are stacked against us. In fact, he sets out to break my steel-like control and blur my limits. I thought my biggest worry was being noticed by Nikolai. I’m learning the hard way that being wanted by this beautiful nightmare is much worse.

This was my first MM romance and it did not disappoint. The narrators did such an amazing job and bringing the characters to life. I felt the emotions on every chapter. It truly made the story that much more emotional for me.
The pacing was perfect, the inner dialogue was amazing. The way I laughed and cried throughout the book was perfection. This met every expectation possible.
The way I KNEW I was going to love Bran and Niko together☺️☺️☺️☺️ and those spices scenes 🥵🥵🥵 buckle up my friends, there’s no putting this story down once you start!

But after breaking up with her longtime famous musician boyfriend, hiding out in a small town in the mountains might be the perfect remedy for a broken heart. I am an absolutely sucker for a single dad. And Tobias Rhodes was perfection. He was a big grump that eventually softens (don’t they always?!) around Aurora.
This book is a SLOW BURN. If you are going into this book looking for spice and excitement, this may not be the book for you. This book takes you on a journey. Makes you want to live in a small town where everyone knows you. Makes you want to wake up early and go for a hike. It was just so peaceful.
I listened to the audio while following along with my physical copy and it gave me such a better experience. I was able to really see the story in my head, I loved it. The narrators did such an amazing job at bringing the characters to life.
Although I wish that we got more of Rhodes POV, I felt the duet style narration was a good call. The amount of times I was smiling while reading this! I loved the relationship between Aurora and Amos. And I just loved watching the story unfold. It’s been a minute since I read a romance that was fade to black or closed door throughout and enjoyed it.
I’ll definitely be reading more by Zapata!

This story was DARKKK and the narrators did such an amazing job really making the story come to life. I felt the emotions the characters went through. It was perfection!
This was my first Lola King book, it definitely won’t be my last. I don’t know what that says about me 😂 guess I’m a glutton for punishment and love me a morally black MMC.
There were so many heavy moments throughout the book that I felt listening to the story on audio built my emotions up more and I felt more because of it. I don’t know how to explain it. The pacing was there. The way my anxiety raised in certain moments was nuts. I couldn’t stop listening!
If you’re a dark romance girl without trigger warnings, give this a go.

“Give me a second chance, babe . . . and I’ll blow your mind.” Monroe doesn’t know why she answers the text that’s obviously meant for someone else. Or why she keeps answering. Maybe it’s because she’s all alone in a big city and in desperate need of a lifeline. Or maybe it’s because each exchange leaves her intrigued and more than a little turned on. Still, Monroe never would’ve snarked back if she’d known she was talking to the “Golden Boy” of the Dallas Knights.

Dark Hockey Romance? Say no more
Reviewed: 11-02-24
The narrators did such a good job really bringing these characters to life. Their banter was perfect and the possessiveness that was written for Lincoln was done amazingly. These narrators were a great choice for this story.
Lincoln was possessive, obsessive, and unhinged when it came to Monroe. What started off as the wrong number soon became an obsession to have this girl in every way possible.
Check your trigger warnings prior to starting this series. There are some heavy topics that are mentioned, but not necessarily discussed in length. I liked that the author gave us a bit of a background of both characters, but I would’ve liked a bit more.
I love the obsessiveness these characters have for each other. There was no slow build up to their relationship, this was fast and impulsive. They lost themselves in each other before really knowing much about each other.
Although I wasn’t blown away by this book, it was a good start to a series. It was fast paced and fun with a lot of banter between the characters. It also gives you a good idea of who the second book is about. I’m excited to learn more about Ari!

Sweet holiday story
Reviewed: 10-25-24
This was a sweet, second chance, small town romance that is a perfect read for the holiday season.
Emerson is a single mom of two who find herself in need of a place to stay. Ben, a single dad, doesnt bat an eye as he happily invites them to stay with him and his two kids.
This story was beautifully written about loss, accepting help, new beginnings, and second chances to find love. I loved watching them help work through the chaos of living together, taking care of kids, animals, and each other.
Ben was friends with Emerson in high school, she married his best friend and they moved away due to his military life. When she’s back in his life and he sees her struggling, all the emotions and feelings he once had for her come back full speed.
The narrators did a wonderful job getting you immersed into the story. They differentiated their voices to individualize each character so well, and you could feel the emotion in their voices as they spoke.
I thought the romance was spicy, the moments with the kids were heartwarming, and this book really got me into the holiday spirit!! Don’t sleep on this one!

Perfect start to spooky season
Reviewed: 10-02-24
The narrator did the BEST job at bringing to life each character. She was able to really show their quirks just as Harrison wrote them. I absolutely enjoyed listening to her! The pacing was perfect and it flowed so well!
I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect start to my spooky season reads and everything I wanted it to be.
Rachel Harrison is easily one of my go to cozy horror authors, she makes the BEST female friendships in her books. I could not get enough of Sloane and Naomi’s friendship, their banter, it was perfect.
They could not be more different, yet their friendship worked. Regardless of what was happening, they were there for each other. What I wasn’t expecting, was the romance that Harrison threw at me. I don’t normally love romance in my horror books, but the way this worked out..I ate it up. I thought that Henry was a kind soul.
There was mystery, suspense, humor, sadness, it honestly was the full package for me.
Everyone should add this to their spooky season TBR. It was just a fun read, and a quick one! This is one I couldn’t put down. I loved every second of it!

Story
According to the FBI, I was considered a serial murderer after three kills. What do they call me after fifty-two? They call me the Silencer. One final bullet would have been all it took to stop me from taking another soul, and I would have been doing Meridian City a service by pulling that trigger. An angel crying for help stopped me, and that night, I took three lives for her. Then three turned into eight. Then eight turned into twenty. Twenty turned into twenty-one. Twenty-one turned into twenty-three.

What a gut punch 😭
Reviewed: 09-18-24
I honestly don’t even know how to write a review for this book…
This was DARK and tragic. With all the trigger warnings possible.
The author did an amazing job writing this story, but I am unwell. This wasn’t a book that had a normal character development…this was more like…a car crash into reality.
If you’re looking for a book with a happy ending, this isn’t it. I don’t think I’ve cried so much in a book than I did with this one. And if you’re triggered easily with audiobooks, this one was HARD to get through.
I was engaged the entire time. Yes, it was messed up, but the story line was so traumatic that you just wanted to see them happy…I kept thinking to myself that the author wouldn’t do me this dirty…but I was so wrong.
I feel like I got gut punched so many times in this book. The amount of twists and turns, the amount of times I said WTF, and the way I THREW my phone at the end, just goes to show that the author got the reaction she was aiming for.
I don’t recommend this book because I don’t want to be the one to rip your heart out. Do it at your own risk.

Story
When Margaret and her husband Hal bought the large Victorian house on Hawthorn Street—for sale at a surprisingly reasonable price—they couldn’t believe they finally had a home of their own. Then they discovered the hauntings. Every September, the walls drip blood. The ghosts of former inhabitants appear, and all of them are terrified of something that lurks in the basement. Most people would flee. Margaret is not most people. Margaret is staying.

Perfect haunted house read
Reviewed: 09-10-24
I had so much fun with this book! It was creepy, but funny, and the characters were all so different from each other. I don’t think I have a single bad thing to say about this book!
If you’re into haunted houses, this one’s for you. Just keep in mind some moments are graphic.
I’m mad at myself for taking so long to read this book. It was fitting as a September read, obviously, so it got me in the mood for fall and spooky season.
The daughter, Katherine, drove me up a wall but I loved the FMC and I ABSOLUTELY loved Frederika, what a sweet soul. There were so many moments in this book that I just LOVED.
The character development was there, the way the author wrote about each character was so well thought out, I’m amazed, really.
She even had a bit of mental health sprinkled into the story that was done perfectly. I can’t give this author enough praise for this one. I’m SUCH a fan 🫶🏻
If you were thinking of reading this one, I highly recommend it. Now’s the perfect time!
