On March 13, 2016, I began an expository sermon series based on the Psalms. By the time I finish preaching them and writing the books, I will publish nine volumes. I desire that this, and all subsequent books, help you see yourself in the lives of the various psalmists as they share their ups and downs and what they did to glorify God in all things. Faith is belief in God and His Word. It is believing that God is who He says He is. Trust is faith in action. While faith and trust are similar and are often used interchangeably, there are some differences. Faith can be easy when things go right and blessings follow you. But, trust looks at a bleak situation and remains faithful regardless of the outcome. This is what trusting the Lord is all about.

If you only used the English definition of mystery, you may think of it as mysterious and ominous. But, when you define it Biblically, you realize that the mysteries of God are meant to be understood, taught, and applied. That is why Paul said, “Behold, I will explain a mystery to you.” (1 Corinthians 15:51, CEV). Therefore, you can and must understand God’s mysteries. The book of Ephesians consists of two equal parts. The first part is doctrinal with its theological gems of truth, detailing what we believe. The second part is practical, detailing how and why we practice our faith daily. One of the overarching themes of Ephesians emphasizes new life in Christ. Born-again believers are the body of Christ on earth and will be His bride in His everlasting kingdom. This experience betroths the church, preparing her to be His bride in eternity.

The written word of mankind is a revelatory tool, offering insight into a person, place, or thing. When it’s used to express ideas about a person, the reader gains insight into that person’s character and, in some sense, comes to know that person. The Holy Bible is God’s written Word and a revelatory tool, offering insight into God’s attributes and thus revealing God’s character. Through studying His Word, a person can learn about Him and come to a greater understanding of His true identity.

A proverb is a short statement expressing a principle of truth for practical, godly living. In Hebrew, the word means “comparison” or “to be like.” Ultimately, Proverbs contains many thought-provoking lessons that transcend time and culture. A verb is a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence. So, in titling this book, The Verbs, I intend to explain the timeless wisdom principles taught in Proverbs. Each chapter and verse should call you to action as you heed the truth in the 915 “verbs” in this wise poetic book.

As I reviewed the twenty psalms in this sixth volume, I noticed a recurring theme: these Psalms reveal the beauty of God’s salvation. On March 15, 2020, the world changed. Cities, states, provinces, and nations closed their borders and went into a global lockdown. In 2010 I wrote Look Again, a book detailing God’s truth about the Second Coming. In 2021, I wrote a condensed version of that book with updated ideas. Unprejudiced, equitable, unbiased, honest, and just are just a few synonymous words to describe the word impartial. The word impartial means to treat or affect all equally. Regardless of the situations the psalmists found themselves in, they gave impartial praise to the One True God. There were times they felt like praising God, and times they didn't; yet, regardless of their circumstance, the 17 Psalms in this volume highlight their adoration and exaltation of Almighty God.

Possibly the most loved words in the Bible come from the Book of Psalms. While revealing significant and rich history of the varying writers, the Psalms also point to the coming Messiah.
