Acerca de esta escucha

A cultivation system based on Daoist five elements and eight trigram theories, written by an acupuncturist/wing chun sifu.

Like all Purebred with their menial jobs, Ken ekes out a living sweeping the floors of Kyoto Peacekeeping Central. His kind serves as a benchmark for XHumans to measure how far they've progressed and a reminder of what Homo sapiens once was.

His life changes when 800-year-old Ryu crosses over from the World of Rivers and Lakes, looking for a lost temple; and Aya, a beautiful hacker whose Sensory Interface perceives the EtherCloud as Feudal Japan, learns that XHumans aren't as perfect as they thought.

They've edited out the genes that allow for Cultivation.

That will give Ken a chance to surpass them.

And maybe use mythical martial skills to save the world from an oppressive government, spirit beasts, and alien invaders.

Contains mature themes.

really well put together

the shifting perspectives helps build attachment to all the characters, and it's one of the few cultivation books that really delves into the principles of how it works

This was unique

This was an interesting take on cultivation stories. I think I enjoyed it more than I thought I would and I am curious to see if there are more books in the series, it seems like there could be. The characters were interesting but the story and growth were a bit fast and the sense of time was a bit jarring. Overall I wouldn’t hate more stories like this even if it is a bit different from the normal path.

Uh, really unprepared for chi rejuvenation technic

First time introduction to author Jace Kang and found his writing quite good. The MC's backstory is well-defined and making an interesting one to follow. There are others who are handicapped or held back in their society and who the MC finds promise in their latent cultivation abilities. As such, he decides to allow them to join him on his quest and train them in the hidden art of cultivation. Then, there is an almost anime quality introduced where the extremely-advanced society is suddenly attacked and murdered by of all things, yokai, seeking to absorb their victims essence. The story and protagonists progresses in a somewhat cultivation-expectant manner until something completely left-field occurs, immediately advancing the novel from a YA genre to adult material!

Still, the story as a whole is still entertaining and I intend to continue with the series, not least of which is due to Travis Baldree supurb narration performance.

Good story will there be a spin off?

Let's give Travis a round of applause for this masterful performance. He definitely contributed positively to the story.
Storywise this is definitely a pg 13 and up book. Overall I was incredibly invested in the well being of the 3 primary characters (there is another that isn't really one but close). The Xanxia, sci fi(little fantasy), and cultivation novel is ridiculously good and not as complex as you would think. The pacing is good, plot points well thought out and resolution nice. Character development was funny at times. I definitely got a few laugh in the early start of the book.
This book is one of the few that I've read recently that had absolutely great sex scenes that make sense to the story and isn't forced or awkward. In fact it's straightforward and bold as brass. Lower ratings must be virgins and yes even as a gay man the story was arousing.

Can't recommend this enough.
5 stars across the board.

An awesome cultivation novel

I liked the story. It reminded me of Street Cultivation by Sarah Lin and ALSO narrated by the great Travis Baldree! Imagine that!! But instead of mixing cultivation and advanced technology it was cultivation brought to the land of advanced technology and how it dealt with it. Yes yes there were a few sex scenes involved but not excessively like some harem/lit novel. It fit perfectly with the flow of the storyline. The story could end where the author left it but I truly hope the author will continue. Plenty of loose ends to make more action packed Xianxia stories, plus I'd like to see how Ken and Aya progress.
