Acerca de esta escucha

Lumi Northrop is having the best summer of her life. She's earned the respect of the entire haven after her role in recovering Rudolph and saving Jack Frost, her family's reindeer sanctuary is thriving, and she's even got herself a date to the Summer Solstice Celebration.

Life is sweeter than a bowl full of jelly.

Right up until the beloved frost pixies start going full gremlins-after-midnight, wrecking havoc around the sanctuary, and threatening to invade the entire magical Christmas village.

With no clue as to their sudden shift in attitude, Lumi and her boyfriend, the Frost Prince, are forced to go out into the wild woods searching for answers - but there are dangers far greater than a band of feral pixies lurking in the ancient forest.

Can they save the pixies before they are lost forever?

Grab your favorite beach towel and an iced cocoa with extra whipped cream, and dive into this sweet Summer Solstice story with magic, mystery, danger, and a pinch of romance!

Pixie Problems and Sibling Struggles

I think sometimes cozy mysteries are really great at this short story length, it keeps things tight and progressing. I did laugh at some of the silly inconsistencies (in Reindeer Runes the first Lumi story she says she is just about to turn 27. Peppermint Pixies is taking place 6 months later after her first date to the Yule Ball with Corbin Frost. However this story starts with Lumi saying she is about to turn 33, so a bit of time travel but nothing major). I will say however I actually REALLY appreciate that Danielle has characters mention the Beach Bubble happening for Summer Solstice which is the central event discussed in book 6 of this series. I think it shows that with a little communication with the other authors you can sprinkle in connections between stories since all these are taking place in a small town. I also love that unlike some of the other authors in the WWoHH series Danielle takes her audience to different places from bars, to woods, to different little shops. I think part of why folks love the small town feel is to actually get to take in the places in the small town and many in this series and in this genre of supernatural cozy mysteries almost seem phobic about describing the scenery and location but instead just refer generally to it, literally just saying small town feel without anymore detail it's hand waved and the audience is supposed to fill all this in--I don't know if this is because these authors are simultaneously writing so many series and books it is hard for them to track but it sometimes makes the world feel flat. But the dynamic duo of Danielle and Amanda won me over again with this story. Brief but still engaging and interesting to see the character development specifically as Lumi continues dating Corbin and Lumi's take on her boyfriend's dynamic within his family and with his brother Jack who is set to take the throne. There is real depth to this as well as Lumi's struggle with her relationship to royalty bringing her into celebrity status and the public eye. This was a nice little story and definitely added to the WWoHH world as well as keeping me interesting to learn more about these characters. Danielle's stories in this series continue to delight me and I would say stand out as some of the better volumes in this series.

Pixies gone wild

We get to see our favorite reindeer guardian with a prince dealing with pixies. I love this story as the author follows what people call the social norms then take us in another direction. A great lesson for the kids to not judge a book by its cover. I would like to see more of Opal and both meet Holly or Harmony.

Of the ones I’ve read, this holiday series would be great for kids’ movies! Many chuckles throughout!

Fan

Danielle did it again and continues with Lumi and Corbin. I do hope she will continue this love story and to see Jack get married and settled down.
The narrator is always great.

I can’t get enough of these books!!! ❄️🎄

This is my favorite series that I’ve found in years! I love Christmas and fantasy so this winter witch series at the North Pole legit feels like it was written just for me! The writer and narrator pairing is amazing. The world building is sublime and the characters are so relatable and likable!

(Spoilers) So far, Lumi and Corbin are my favorite characters that this series focuses on. I was hoping they would continue their story as book two remains my reigning favorite! The story of the quaint reindeer farmer and the second frost prince just can’t be beat! I’m glad Jack was in this one too and I look forward to seeing his character and relationships evolve more. It seems a little strange that in a world of magic nothing can be done to help the dying Frost King but I guess healing magic is not really mentioned here.

I absolutely adore the frost pixies and seeing them go wild in this story was delightful and entertaining. At the same time, I shared Lumi’s concern and tried to help her solve the mystery throughout. The writer is very good at laying groundwork yet also pulling out believable twists regarding these many mysteries. Opal is a very interesting character who I hope to see more of. That owl was hysterical and whimsical, both in character and in voice. I was not expecting the mischief of the wood sprites and I honestly felt very sorry for them. I wonder if only one or two pixies said disparaging things to them or if it was pure speculation. Regardless, I think Lumi should have discussed the wood sprites’ motives with the pixies but maybe they are saving that for another story. The scene with Jack eating the tampered candy canes was hysterical and my favorite part!

Even though this book focuses on the summer solstice, it is still very Christmasy and wintery throughout. I highly recommend this series for this time of year!!! ❄️☃️🥶💙

Good little short story. Interested in listening to the other short stories in the series if they are free.
