To graduate with my master's in journalism, I have to join the pen pal program, where I'm linked up with a prisoner and have to exchange letters for a year. I need him to graduate. He needs me to get out of that hell.

This is supposed a quick, one-page letter once a month. Except a lot can happen in a year when he's the only person that listens to me. Everything changes. Not only does East become my best friend, but suddenly, he's the keeper of almost all my secrets.

When he's released, will I be strong enough to let him see all my demons and claim my heart, too?

The emotion

This book was great Start to finish. I Loved that it address Eating disorders and mental health and some of the struggles that Come with it and how finding your person can help you to overcome this issue. The storyline was cute and some Parts of the story had me blushing. The narrators made me blush too.

Cute love story

Love the story, unsure what the eating disorder was put in it. Wish it was longer and gave more on the relationship with his parents. Cute short listen though

Short But Sweet

Taylor Jade has constructed a solid romance with an intriguing twist. Essentially the story revolves around a pen pal program for prison inmates and college students.

At first, Easton the inmate is just excited about the potential of the pen pal program leading to his release from jail. But when Harley the college student who writes him turns out to be a really interesting girl, the two immediately form a close bond. The relationship evolves from there.

Amazing narration and audio. Loved how both narrators performed in unison throughout the production. Jeffrey and Daphne were great. I basically couldn’t stop listening. Highly recommended!

Just my opinion, but awful.

I’m usually pretty generous with my reviews. This book didn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s my personal perspective of eating disorders as well as inmates (I’m a nurse that has worked both in mental health and also corrections). The romance chemistry between the East and Harley was painfully lacking for me. Harley was more annoying than anything. The romance seemed forced. The addition of the adoption story, and the eating disorder- it just fell flat. It was all over the place. The writing didn’t have any fluency.
I typically enjoy short stories in between my longer books, but this wasn’t it. Blah.

How terrible this story was.

The cheesiest story. It could have been so good. The plot had so much potential but it was so predictable.
