Got me back into audio books

TikTok got me on this one and I am OBSESSED! so gripping. I had my headphones in at any minute I could listening to this! So sad it’s done. On to the next one!

Dark hockey romance

Gosh, this book... I am in LOVE! I'm in love with the story, the characters, this author! 𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐋 𝐈 𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔 is a standalone dark hockey romance by Claire Contreras. I will immediately be buying a paperback copy so I can annotate the crap out of it and get it signed <3.

Lyla James Marichal and Lachlan Duke meet in college. She's a gorgeous brunette wallflower who happens to run into college hockey star, Lachlan, at a party. She's the only girl who won't give him the time of day so naturally he's got to find out everything he can about her.

Characters:
These two give me all the feels. They started in one place and grew in such big ways. I can't say more because I don't want to spoil the plot!

Writing/Listening:
It's a medium paced book at about 600 pages but I'm telling you it's worth it! The length was perfect for everything that happened in the plot and made you fall for these main characters. It's dual POV which is my favorite. Joe Arden is one of my absolute favorite male narrators and he was divine. I really enjoyed Kasha Kensington as well. Although a few times her narrating Lachlan's dialogue during the spicy scenes had me laughing/cringing. Lol Would have been 5/5 on performance if it was duet narration. Diverse author and diverse representation. And let me just say, this book was the perfect blend and amount of spice. PERFECTION!

Fun book! Hockey romance with darker storyline

Great love story with all the feels. This book had me cringing, laughing and crying. Book had some good spicy spicy scenes. Check trigger warnings before reading.

Loved the dual narrative and performance was great. Really liked the storyline did feel like it dragged on for a bit towards the end but overall; great, fun spicy story. Hockey / billionaire romance but not over the top with either.

Amazing storyline, narrators give it their all!!

This is one of those books you’ll wish you could read it again for the first time!! Great book, long and plenty of suspenseful story too. Narrators put in a lot of energy and effort into their recordings.

Story was good, I LOVE Joe Arden I just hate when he reads the female lines, and vice versa for the females.
I like the story just feel like dual reading could have made it great.

Wow, It was such an amazing book just read it believe me you won’t regret it !!!

Good story - bad narration

I wanted to really love this book but I just couldn’t get past the narration. The female voice is just horrible, she’s very whiny and sounds like a child most of the book.

The plot is good, but the sex scenes just seem awkward. Sounds like inexperienced children trying to be mature but failing.

I give it a solid 3.5.

Not enough for me

Not enough suspense, darkness or Joe Arden for me. The story was okay. Truly hated the end, but that’s probably just a personal thing. I didn’t like Kasha Kensingtons voice for Lochlan, but thought she was great for Lylah. If this were a duet it would have made it so much better. Still worth a listen though :)

LOVED!

Great story and perfect amount of spice. Had me squealing, laughing and crying. What more could you want. Perfect mix on narrators as well.
