Acerca de esta escucha

Construct your dungeon. Summon your monster girls. Slaughter your foes.

When the Inkolana Cartel's experimental computer network comes under attack, they give white-hat hacker Clay Knight two hours to fix the problem.

If he succeeds, he'll be rich beyond his wildest dreams.

If he fails, he's a dead man.

But when Clay hacks the hackers, he stumbles into an ancient ritual that summons him to the dusty, forgotten world of Soketra. In this strange new land, Clay finds dungeons, monsters, and a fierce pride of beautiful cat women who believe he is the reincarnation of the ancient Dungeon Lord Rathokhetra. With a band of bloodthirsty dungeon raiders on his doorstep, Clay must master his new abilities and gather guardians for his territory to save himself and his army of warrior women from a fate darker than death.

A Great Beginning

A great combination of real world and game. you dislike the bad guys and root for the hero's. cant wait for part 2

needs to be longer

it's a pretty good book, but everything just seems to go the main characters way too often. things work out too well, he's too smart, he's too nerdy, and crushes on all the women. you know, all the stereotypes for this genre. it's an okay read, but too short for the price.

Well I was Impressed.

I am continuously looking for the nest book in the series. I thought by the summary it was going to be a bad read but was proven wrong. I'm a bit disapointed that the main character can't leave his dungeon but am still entertained by the book. Hopefully there comes a time he does break free of the dungeon.

another great gamelit harem.

This was an excellent title of its type. Now, it didnt blow my socks off with its creativity and unique genius, which is the only reason the story didnt get a 5. You wont see a whole hell of a lot that truly surprises you, if u r into the harem gamelit genre. It hits everything you would expect. but that isnt necessarily a bad thing. This genre is fairly niche. But this book hits all the right buttons for people who are into this sort of thing. Including hot catgirls, with a neat egyptian theme that is just waaayyyyy underappreciated in its hotness. so glad somebody finally recognized that.
Now, if you are looking for graphic sex scenes, then you may need to go elsewhere. fade to black is device used here for MOST of the actual sex scenes (there is some, just not a lot). Frankly, i prefer it this way. These types of stories are way better when the author takes the time to descriptively help u appreciate the scenery as you go, and build the tension. the little, constant things, that all add up to a great experience. Thats so much better than just one flimsy excuse after the next for people to start humping. Frankly, it kinda kills a book like this if i have to keep hearing certain 4 letter words for male genitalia ALL THE TIME. id much rather enjoy subtle and detailed descriptions of his female companions in their various states, because women can just be sexy in a lot of different ways doing a lot of different things (that's just how most of us with Y chromosomes see it).
So, while this mostly wont blow u away with originality, its an excellent book of the genre and well worth the listen. And the author seems to have been like "i dont care how cliche it seems, catgirls are awesome, and so i see no reason there shouldnt be plenty in my story". And i applaud him for this. There is nothing wrong with finding an excuse to use what people LIKE.
The author also made the very wise choice to enlist James Patrick Cronin. Not only does this show he did his homework and found a good narrator, it also shows he was willing to invest in the best for his book. I'm not knocking authors who go for more bargain deals when looking for their narrator. Tough world. i get it.
However, when an author cares enough to invest in someone well known in harem gamelit circles, and favored by those listeners, it makes all the difference. Hell, i often look for new audio books based solely on what certain narrators have been doing, and james patrick Cronin is one of those narrators.
On the narrator, i saw some reviews above complained about Cronin's use of a "french" accent for the sort of egyptian cat ladies. Initially, i would have said that he needed a foreign accent to help distinguish characters, and i would have been fine with that argument alone. However, look up arabic and egyptian accents. if u start googling it, you will find many links talking about how similar they are to the french accent. Like, native speakers will sometimes mistake it.
What does this mean? it isnt just a french accent, its the accent most appropriate for the setting. Cronin did his research. those people who complained about the "French accent killing it for them", had no idea what the appropriate accent for the setting would have actually sounded like. Because it would have sounded very much like a french accent. so, if you go into the book and are like "why does this egyptian catgirl sound french?", just ask urself if u know what an EGYPTIAN accent would actually sound like. Because u probably dont. Cronin nailed it. look it up if u dont believe me.
So, fans of gamelit, monster girls, and dungeon core novels, go for it. This book hits all the right buttons. well worth a listen. im looking forward to book 2.

- note: i did receive a free credit for this book as part of a random giveaway. just want to b upfront. but it isnt like they were paying me to leave a review, or made me legally obligated. Its just the decent thing to do, if they are kind enough to give u a free listen. Ive tried to be fair and honest with my review though, and hope thats adequately reflected here.

Good start to a decent harem

I thought this was a very decent story and a lot of potential. I hope the future ones focus on the dungeon building process as much as the wonderful monster girls.

Wow

Im gonna be upfront here, I got this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

With that out of the way, I LOVED this audiobook. I usually try to stay away from harem (sex scenes usually kind of skeeve me out) but I figured I would take a chance on it when I saw a code giveaway. Boy am I glad I did!

From the very beginning, I was pulled right into the role of Clay, thanks to James' fantastic narrative skills. The action started strong and fast, and never slowed down from there.

I loved Clay's bold "Get it done" attitude, and the snark was STRONG. I adore strong snark.

The named females were great, and built up the MC just like a good harem should.

My only problem, if it could be called a problem, is that I need more!

Pretty good, It's harem, but not very graphic

The protagonist Clay gets sucked into a game world where he plays a Dungeon Lord who is learning the ropes. Some of the imagery has an Egyptian feel to it, you can get that from the cover. However, if you are hoping for Egyptian mythology you will be disappointed. The dungeon mechanics are not very detailed which will be great for some folks and a downer for others. This Dungeon Lord can move around physically and he protects his dungeon core. He isn't just a gem stuck in the wall like other dungeon core novels. Clay can change his layout while he is in motion. This gives him some interesting strategies he can use. From the cover, you will assume that this will be a harem novel. You would definitely be correct, however this isn't a very graphic harem like alot of others. This follows the "Fade to Black' approach instead of the graphic blow by blow (no pun intended) approach to the sex. I don't have problems with harem books, I know lots of folks do but they can be rather fun in my opinion. He doesn't have a large harem in this book. You will follow him and two other women for most of the book. Clay's main sidekick or his "familiar" is a sexy cat woman and he will summon a scorpion queen lady later in the story. They both have their own personalities and are pretty interesting. They aren't mindless bimbos that you may be expecting. The narration is very good. The guy sounds just like Luke Daniels, at times I was wondering if James Patrick Cronin was a pseudonym. I enjoyed my time with it. I won't be rushing to read book 2 anytime soon, but I will get to it eventually.

bring on the next book baby!

dungeon bringer was such a fun read with an MC that I enjoyed. I especially enjoyed the bits of D&D elements and never have pet scorpions sounded so cute. Also scorpion girl is a new interest that has been added XD

Not the greatest of all time, but certainly good

Really enjoyed this book. A hacker to a dungeon keeper/godling. The main character was smart and some things he does near the beginning of the book once he first takes over I found really clever and a nice change from the normal. It's harem but not an obnoxious one. The female characters stay within the realms of 'ok it's a book I'll give it leeway'.(Most harems, in my opinion, cross that line and go to the 'so every female character is an idiot hu?' line.) I do wish that the female characters still had a bit more fleshing out but not to the point where i'd take anything off the book's review score.
