About this listen

Svali: Living on the dark mining planet of Kleedan, I saw only a bleak future. I sold my body to the men of Avalere, but it wasn't enough. I needed to do more. Desperate, willing to sacrifice anything to feed my mother and sister, I pretended to be one of the pure women of The Circle trained to be mated to the warriors. In so doing, I tricked the formidable Duke into marrying me. He must never learn of my deception, or my family and I are doomed.

Idan: I scorned the very idea of "love," only agreeing to the utilitarian institution of marriage to better serve my people. I did my duty and claimed a woman, drawn to her beauty and purity. It was not long after the marriage ceremony I discovered her lie. She will pay dearly for deceiving me and learn to call me master.

Publisher's Note: Idan is a stand-alone sequel in the Heroes of Avalere series. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

Sci fi I can listen to!

And I thought book 1 of this series was good! I think Jane Henry outdid herself with this one. Five years since the first story, we have Idan, the right hand man of the King Aldric. Aldric has Idan taking a wife in the circle so that he can fill the second throne. Idan is not the least bit excited about this, until he actually takes his bride. Svali is a force to be reckoned with. After tricking Idan into marrying her, she is willing to submit to this alpha male, but is finding it a little more difficult than she imagined. With an agenda to fulfill, she is constantly ignoring his orders to complete her tasks, getting herself in trouble as well as creating problems for Alavare. I think this book was a more complex story than Aldric. It was able to concentrate on the characters, yet give a real sense of what it is like on the planet, what others elsewhere were living like and the constant threats that this civilization is under. The erotic scenes with Idan and Svali are smoking hot, and really brings out the alpha side of Idan, both with his punishments and his nurturing. Nothing sexier than a man that soothes his soulmate!

The narration team of Ali and Jeffrey Peterson continue this sci fi romantic adventure. The two to me have become these characters so well, Jeffrey's low commanding voice for Idan, and Ali's full of strength and passion for both her husband and her family. These two narrators do a wonderful job.

10 star performance!

Idan by Jane Henry is the second in the Heroes of Avalere series. The first book, Aldric, was fantastic. I loved the story but the performance by Jeffrey and Ali Peterson made the experience totally immersive. Idan is also performed by Jeffrey and Ali Peterson and is completely engrossing. They bring beautiful passages to life and entwine the characters of Idan and Svali seamlessly.
Alternating chapters are told from Idan’s and Svali’s points of view and narrated by Jeffrey and Ali respectively. This allows us to see the motivations, desires and fears of each character. Svali is a lady of the evening. Idan is a warrior. King Aldric orders Idan to take a wife so he can be named Duke. Ever practical and pragmatic, Idan agrees, assuming that his marriage will be a business arrangement devoid of emotional contact. Instead, he forges a connection to Svali who uses deception to be chosen as Idan’s bride. Svali also plans the marriage to be an impersonal arrangement. She wants to protect and provide for her family and sees Idan as the means to an end. In training Svali to obey, Idan falls in love with her and Svali learns to trust Idan enough to submit to him.
This is a beautiful love story. Sure there’s plenty of deception and intrigue and even a budding rebellion. But the sex scenes are smoking hot and the spanking scenes are detailed and erotic. The deep, expressive voice of Jeffrey Peterson making demands and threats is toe-curling. The stomach flutters, the breath hitches, and the lower regions get tingly every time he disciplines his wife and especially when he claims her. However, an actor is only as good as the material he/she must present. Ms. Henry has the ability to create a fantasy world that is both realistic and foreign. The characters are interesting and the plot is fast paced and thrilling. I have no negatives to mention. The meld of story and performance is exactly what one seeks in an audiobook; pure escapism.

oh my

Jane Henry depicts the most interesting new worlds. The world in which this is set highly values submissive women and respect. It is the man's job to teach and train his wife in these ways. If you are opposed to dominance, turn back now :)

I have no complaints with Narration I love Jeffrey and Ali's voices :)

Another great book!

The Petersons are wonderful. They catch your interest right away and keep it. The story itself is a continuation from Aldric and is great! More please!

Better than first book!

This audiobook was a good example of a Sci-fi romance that contained some dominance by the alpha male hero. The heroine admittedly does some dumb things that he punishes her for. The plot was more involved in this story and there was more emotion it seemed, instead of just a lot of spanking. The narration was well done as well.

Idan is a dominant yet caring ruler!

I asked to receive this free review Audible book and wrote this unbiased review. Jane Henry's books never cease to amaze me. Once again she has created characters that you love. Idan is a fierce warrior but when it comes to Svali he is
demanding, patient, loving, and willing to die in order to protect her. Ms Henry shows us the most change in Svali. Her main reason to want to become Idan's wife is to care for her family. Svali is fiercely loyal, unsure whom to trust, caring, keeps secrets, and loving. I loved watching these two characters draw closer together.

Jeffrey and Ali Peterson are the perfect narrators for this story. They both bring out the emotions of these characters. Ali gives Svali a voice that portrays her fierceness, loyalty, vulnerability, regret for not being truthful, and love. Jeffrey's voice for Idan is deep and sexy, demanding yet compassionate except for his enemies, and loving. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Great new series!!

I loved that in this series the voices for the females were done by a woman and same for the male. It made the story flow so much better. I also like that he was very patient with his wife. Even though she kept secrets and was dishonest with him he did all he could to keep her safe. I must say that I thought she deserved every spanking she got and then some.

Idan

This is the second book in this series but I believe it can be read as a stand-alone since it is a different couple. That being said, I think you should still listen to the first because it is just as good. I really liked this book and the back and forth this couple has until they learn to trust one another. I hope there will be more in this series.

The Best Sci-Fi romance ever!!!

This was an amazing story. Idan is well written, captivating and full of suspense. The Sci-fi is not overwhelming. It was so easy to get lost in the story and truly have it come alive. This is a stand a alone in the series, but the tie ins to Aldric were perfect. I listened to this one first and I was not disappointed.

Idan and Svali are not a match made in heaven, but in the end, love wins. Svali tricks Idan into picking her for a mate and he falls for it. They have a rough start as Idan works through all of her lies. But when trouble comes about, they stand by each other and form a strong, romantic bond. It was fun to listen to a story that had a struggle to begin with.

Jeffrey and Ali Peterson were the perfect narrators for this story. Ali has a sweet voice and narrated Svali as I imagined. Ali Peterson was able to narrate Svali and her defiance, sorrowful and loving emotions with perfection. It was fun to listen to Ms Peterson's narration of the female characters. Mr. Peterson's deep, sultry voice was an amazing Idan. Mr Peterson narrated Idan as I would expect a warrior to sound. He narrated Iran to be dominant but also to have a very forgiving, soft side. Both Ali and Jeffrey Peterson's narration enhanced the story and truly brought it to life.
