About this listen

From author Jescie Hall, comes this powerful and emotional contemporary romance featuring a young girl being torn from her perfect, calculated little world, reluctantly falling for her new ex-convict roommate, Hawke, unearthing the truth behind his hidden past.

Nicole never imagined anyone other than her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Patrick, could grab her attention. That is, until ex-convict Cameron Hawke unexpectedly becomes their roommate, turning her entire, calculated little world upside down.

The tension in the house is thick as Hawke's lifestyle clashes abruptly with hers. Nicole's curiosities get the best of her as she attempts to learn the secrets behind Hawke's mysterious past.

Temptations become overwhelming as lines get crossed, feelings get blurry and the truth to a horrific past is unearthed, changing the lives of the three of them forever.

Incredible

Avery Caris knocked this out of the park. She is absolutely phenomenal as Cole.

I enjoyed rereading this heartbreaking story again and to hear it this time was an experience and like I was reading it again for the first time.

Had Me in a Choke Hold

5/5 ⭐

5/5 🎧

This was my first Jescie Hall book and it certainly won't be my last. Hawke had me in a choke hold from the very beginning and didn't let go until well after I finished. I'm not one for a cheating trope... But there was something about the way this story was told that had me not give any flying effs about fidelity. I couldn't wait for Cole to give her boyfriend the boot, but understood why she couldn't which helped me justify it in my mind, along with him treating her so poorly.

The audio was amazing. A duet narration with Avery Caris and Joe Arden that was seamlessly produced by Blue Nose Audio. I got so sucked into their acting, especially Joe's. He was just incredible as Hawke, you could feel so much emotion from him.

This story was less dark (still dark, check your triggers) and more emotional than I expected. There were a few parts that had me close to tears as Cole and Hawke spilled their hearts and pasts to each other. I was so happy to see them finally get their happily ever after and I can't wait to read more from Jescie.

The desire. The temptation. The spice!

Shows and movies are made with a plot like this one I’m sure we all have seen before on tv, but the way Jessie Hall wrote this one. WOW!
The best way I can describe it is itching that itch that’s so itchy. Cleaning your eat with a q-tip and twisting it in that spot that feels oh so good.
The way Hawk softens for Cole, the way only she can ground him from his thoughts. WOW again.
The desire they have that opens each other up to one another, is like seeing soulmates finally cross paths.
And that’s me putting it lightly because man oh man that need is so v.e.r.y strong, it’s envious.
I couldn’t stop listening, Jessie Hall - amazing!
The narrators - phenomenal. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

An Emotional Journey

I listened to this book on audio by @bluenoseaudio and it was *incredible*-I have thought about it at least once a day since I finished it. The story is so unexpectedly emotional, and the performances of the narrators are unbelievably incredible. Hawke is a complex character, with secrets and a backstory that will break your heart.
There is one particular scene in this book that I keep hearing on repeat in my brain that really exposes the depth of his character, and Joe Arden as Hawke will make you cry more than once. Cole’s character growth throughout the story is amazing-she starts as this somewhat meek, “take what I’m given, what I have is good enough” character and turns into a badass I will take what I deserve and nothing less woman. We love a strong fmc 🥰 and Avery Caris brings her to life.
I don’t know if I would have connected to this story to the extent that I did without the audio version (yes it is seriously that good), but whether you’re going to read or listen to this story-don’t skip it! It is worth your time.

Good revenge story

I really liked the dual narration of the story. The story was great very taboo. My one wish with this story was that it was also dual point of views too. It would have been good to know what Cam was thinking and even Patrick just to get the full perspective. Overall I would totally recommend this story as a great story to listen to.
