• Ep.36 How to improve your Sleep Quality w/ Derek Lacey
    Jun 23 2024

Join me in this episode where I interview Derek Lacey on how to improve your sleep quality through inner child work.

Inner child work can profoundly influence your sleep quality by addressing the root causes of stress, anxiety, and emotional instability that often stem from childhood experiences. By healing and nurturing your inner child, you create a foundation of emotional well-being, safety, and self-compassion that promotes restful and rejuvenating sleep.

Inner child work involves exploring and healing past childhood experiences, traumas, and emotions that may still be impacting your adult life. By addressing unresolved issues from your formative years, you can release negative patterns and cultivate a healthier, more integrated self.

The Connection Between Inner Child Work and Sleep Quality

    1. Reducing Stress and Anxiety

    • Unresolved Trauma: Childhood traumas can manifest as chronic stress and anxiety in adulthood. These unresolved issues can cause a hyperactive stress response, making it difficult to relax and fall asleep.
    • Healing Process: By engaging in inner child work, you can address and heal these traumas, reducing overall stress and anxiety levels, leading to improved relaxation and better sleep quality.

    1. Enhancing Emotional Regulation

    • Emotional Turmoil: Unprocessed childhood emotions can lead to emotional instability, affecting your ability to manage stress and maintain calmness, which are crucial for good sleep.
    • Emotional Healing: Inner child work helps you acknowledge and process these emotions, enhancing your emotional regulation. This improved emotional balance can lead to a more restful and uninterrupted sleep.

    1. Releasing Negative Beliefs

    • Limiting Beliefs: Childhood experiences often shape our beliefs about ourselves and the world. Negative beliefs and self-perceptions can contribute to feelings of unworthiness, leading to anxiety and sleep disturbances.
    • Positive Reframing: By identifying and reframing these negative beliefs through inner child work, you can cultivate a more positive self-image and reduce nighttime rumination, promoting better sleep.

    1. Creating a Sense of Safety

    • Sense of Insecurity: Traumatic childhood experiences can leave you feeling unsafe and hyper-vigilant, which can persist into adulthood, affecting your ability to relax and sleep soundly.
    • Inner Nurturing: Inner child work involves nurturing and reassuring your inner child, creating a sense of safety and security. This sense of inner safety can significantly improve your ability to relax and achieve deep sleep.

    1. Improving Self-Compassion

    • Self-Criticism: Childhood criticism and negative experiences can lead to a harsh inner critic, perpetuating stress and negative self-talk that disrupt sleep.
    • Self-Compassion Practice: Inner child work fosters self-compassion, helping you to replace self-criticism with kindness and understanding. This positive self-relationship reduces stress and enhances sleep quality.

    1. Resolving Nightmares and Sleep Disorders

    • Recurrent Nightmares: Unresolved childhood trauma can cause recurrent nightmares and sleep disorders, as the subconscious mind tries to process these experiences during sleep.
    • Therapeutic Resolution: Through inner child work, you can address and resolve these traumas, potentially reducing the frequency and intensity of nightmares and improving overall sleep...

  • Ep.35 From Insomniac to Sleep Facilitator w/ Derek Lacey
    May 29 2024

Join me today in a conversation with Derek Lacey !

Derek Lacey is a sleep facilitator and founder of the Art of Falling Asleep & 5 Step Method, a method of sleeping that aligns the mind, body and nervous system to create a deeper and more meaningful experience of sleep.

After spending a lifetime fighting insomnia himself, Derek discovered his sleep when he became a health coach in 2015, learning the importance of daily habits and mindset changes, then applying these mindset changes to his own insomnia transformation.

Since then, he has used his knowledge of sleep science and sleep psychology to help insomniacs use intuitive methods to repurpose their resistance to sleep into their own pharmacy of sleep chemicals.

Derek’s mission is to create a movement that makes sleep meaningful again, help people access the spiritual gifts of sleep, and use this deeper connection with sleep to contribute to a more conscious planet.

  • Ep.33 Overcoming a closed mind - part #2 w/ RICK YANCO
    Mar 23 2024

    Hello there

Join us today as Rick and I meet in the Yurt by a cozy fire and discuss the conflict we observe between generations at the workplace.

The conflict between baby boomers and Gen Z regarding work ethic and work-life balance often stems from differing generational perspectives and experiences. Baby boomers typically value traditional work ethics, such as loyalty to a single employer and long hours, while Gen Z tends to prioritize flexibility, work-life balance, and purpose-driven work.

Rick and I strongly believe that bridging this gap requires open communication, mutual respect, and understanding of each other's perspectives. Employers can also adapt policies and practices to accommodate the evolving needs and preferences of different generations in the workforce.

Enjoy this open and honest conversation and maybe feel inspired to reflect about how you can contribute to a more peaceful and efficient work environment.

Overcoming a closed mind w/ Rick Yanco

I’m so honoured and feel so blessed that Rick was happy to join my podcast.

Rick is easily a person I’m deeply impressed and inspired by.

He is an advanced Care Paramedic/ First responder for 30+ years in Alberta/ Canada.

His story is so deeply inspiring and gives a lot of hope for his generation and for the future generations to come.

The intention for this episode is:

    • To break the mental health stigma
    • To get to know a courageous man on a deeper level
    • To share uncomfortable truths in order to make others who struggle feel less lonely
    • To inspire all people out there who listen that no matter where you are at in life and what you have accomplished you will be seen and supported if you make the first step of reaching out for help when you need it
    • To get the word out that there is more people out there than we think that struggle on the inside and we need to become more attuned and compassionate as a community/ society

Share this episode around to honour this wonderful man in our community and to help others find the last bit of courage to reach out for help when it comes to mental and emotional matters

  • Ep.31 Self-Abandonment and how New Year's resolutions are a waste of time if you don't like yourself [self awareness]
    Jan 7 2024

Self- Abandonment is a tricky topic.

Welcome to another insightful episode of The Borealis Experience Podcast, where we delve into the complexities of personal development and self-discovery.

In today's episode, we're exploring the profound connection between self-abandonment, self-love, and the often-misunderstood world of New Year's resolutions.

What does it mean to neglect or reject ourselves emotionally and why is it so prevalent?

As the new year dawns, many of us embark on the well-intentioned journey of setting resolutions. However, we explore the argument that New Year's resolutions may be a futile endeavor if the foundation of self-love is absent. Our conversation delves into the psychology behind resolutions and why, without a strong self-affirming base, they might not stand the test of time.

Remember, the path to self-discovery is ongoing, and your commitment to loving yourself is the most transformative resolution of all.

Thank you for supporting The Borealis Experience Podcast where we explore the dance between self-acceptance and personal evolution.

    With much love

  • Ep.30 Intimacy Retreat - working on your relationships [relationship healing]
    Oct 21 2023

Reconnect with Nature and Each Other:

Intimacy Retreats in a fire warmed Yurt in the Forest

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to lose touch with both nature and the people we hold dearest. The idea of escaping to an intimate retreat in the heart of a lush forest provides the perfect opportunity to rekindle your connection with the natural world and, most importantly, with your partner. In this blog post, we'll explore the magic of intimacy retreats in the forest, how they can help you strengthen your relationship, and why they've become a popular choice for couples seeking a deeper connection.

The Beauty of Forest Intimacy Retreats:

Escape the Noise: One of the primary advantages of a forest retreat is the escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The calm surroundings allow you to leave behind the noise of the city and focus on your partner and yourself.

Nature's Healing Power: The forest environment offers a serene and calming backdrop that can have a profound impact on your well-being. The fresh air, vibrant flora, and soothing sounds of the forest help reduce stress and anxiety, making it easier to open up and connect on a deeper level.

    Activities and Workshops:

Yoga and Meditation: Many forest retreats offer yoga and meditation sessions, helping you and your partner find your inner balance and build a sense of unity.

Couples intimacy workshops: I will lead workshops at the Yurt focused on improving communication, deepening intimacy, and resolving conflicts.

Outdoor Adventures: Engage in thrilling outdoor activities like forest hikes, snowshoeing, or even Yurt fire gazing, which can strengthen the bond between you and your partner.

    Reignite Your Romance:

Disconnect to Reconnect: With limited connectivity in the forest, you can unplug from the digital world and reconnect with your partner on a meaningful, personal level.

Intimacy retreats in the forest offer couples a unique opportunity to nurture their love, rediscover their connection, and create lasting memories. If you're seeking to strengthen your relationship, escape the daily grind, and embrace the beauty of the natural world, consider a forest intimacy retreat. It might just be the perfect setting to embark on a journey of love, healing, and reconnection.

  • Ep.29 Your mind can be your worst enemy [self-awareness]
    Oct 12 2023

Our thoughts, emotions, and mental processes can sometimes work against us and lead to self-doubt, anxiety, or negative self-perception.

It reflects the importance of mental health and the role our thought patterns and attitudes play in our well-being. Here are a few reasons why this statement holds true:

    1. Overthinking: Excessive rumination and overthinking can lead to anxiety and stress. We often create problems or scenarios in our minds that may not even exist in reality.
    2. Negative Self-Talk: Negative self-talk, where we criticize or belittle ourselves, can erode self-esteem and confidence.
    3. Fear and Worry: Our minds can generate fear and excessive worry, often about future events that may never come to pass.
    4. Perfectionism: Striving for perfection in every aspect of life can lead to unrealistic expectations and self-criticism when we don't meet those expectations.
    5. Rumination on the Past: Repeatedly dwelling on past mistakes or regrets can prevent us from moving forward and finding happiness in the present.
    6. Comparison: Constantly comparing ourselves to others can lead to feelings of inadequacy and envy.
    7. Cognitive Biases: Our minds are susceptible to various cognitive biases, such as confirmation bias or negativity bias, which can distort our perception of reality.

Recognizing that your mind can sometimes work against you is an important step in addressing these issues.

It's essential to practice self-awareness and develop strategies to manage negative thought patterns and emotions.

This may include mindfulness techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, seeking support from a therapist, and adopting a positive and self-compassionate mindset.

Taking care of your mental health and seeking support when needed can help you transform your mind from an enemy into an ally in your life's journey.
