Critic reviews

"Dietz/Crowley is charismatic, and his stories will leave you alternately laughing and crying. Harries/Lodge will leave you thoughtful. This audiobook will make you get out of the car and walk or bike with your portable [audio] player." (AudioFile)

This book can change your life

I had read parts of this book a few years ago, but listening to it was life changing. The medical part with Dr. Lodge was easy to understand and totally motivating. Chris Crowley's forte may not be audio narrating, but the advice is still true. Considering that he is now 80 and still majorly active is amazing. I loved this book!

This IS an intensive exercise book!

I was very disappointed with this book. The author claims it's not an exercise book but that's exactly what it is. 6 days of exercise a week, aerobics 2 days and 2 strength training with weights. The other information about health and cholesterol most everyone knows. I wish the descriptions of books were more accurate because being in a wheelchair I'm certainly not going to be able to go on 50 mile bike trips, etc. The advice in the book also pertains to people who have MONEY and lots of it to go on all the retreats recommended. It was really a depressing book for me to realize that all the advice I either could not do physically or financially. If you are in relatively good shape and want to do the best you can to live long then this book is for you IF you have the time and money to do all the things required. Otherwise don't waste your time. Or money and definitely not a credit!

Reminder of known information

If you could sum up Younger Next Year for Women in three words, what would they be?

Nothing new here

What was one of the most memorable moments of Younger Next Year for Women?

Annoying, lengthy story of Chris skiing with the experts in Stowe...BORING!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Voice of Chris sounded too old, could hear him smacking lips, clearing throat, taking breaths...tone was condescending...narration was distracting from the message.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No

Any additional comments?

Read their first book, thoroughly enjoyed it, and it changed my life. Y.N.Y. for
Women had basically the same information which I predicted, but wanted a review. Information presented would have been better if Chris were a female. Dietz narration was irritating...Harries was fine. Would have liked the book better if I had read it rather than listened to it. And I disagree with Chris regarding there being no negative side effects to working out. One can injure themselves while working out...as all of the women in my class have done, at one time or another...no matter what kind of shape they were in at the time or how careful...it just happens, and it can be expensive and discouraging.

Top notch

As a health coach and trainer in my 40's with parents approaching retirement I can't recommend this book highly enough. I have male and female clients in their 40's, 50's and 60's and all are 'younger this year' because we got started last year. The way Harry and Chris volley the topics back and forth makes listening a real joy. A little humor, a dash of science and buckets of common sense. We'll done on a truly impressive read fellas, well done!!!

Motivating and informative

I thought the information to live a healthier lifestyle inspiring and I started following much of the advice. I found the scientific theory of evolution hard to follow as I believe in Creation by God.
Some of the dialogue was a little over dramatic for me, but entertaining.

Great gift!

A friend of mine recommended this book to me at the age of 47. He was about to turn 65. I'm so glad I read this book now while I'm still younger and healthy. Because I know that if I take the advice offered, the best is yet to come. I highly recommend the Audible version of the book. You can listen to it while you do your aerobic activity! I have bought this book as a gift for every person in my life that I love.
