About this listen

Wealth, power, and privilege have always been a part of Levi Shephard’s life. However, it comes at a price. The darkness that surrounds being born into a family of organized crime has always kept him at a distance when it came to relationships. He only hooked up with women who understood the game and played along.

Born with a heart defect, Aspen Chance has been sheltered and raised by her religious grandmother. When her grandmother passes away, Aspen is left with no family - except her older sister who her grandmother had believed was headed straight for Hell.

Deep down Aspen hopes to reconnect with her sister while also being given the chance to experience more of life. Leaving the only home, she’d ever known behind she moves to Ocala, Florida to live with her sister. It doesn’t take her long to realize her sister was going to shelter her even more than her grandmother had.

One of the strippers that Levi enjoys occasional hook ups with is killed one night while a fight breaks out in the club. He might not have been able to prevent her death but he could save her younger sister. Aspen was everything her sister had claimed: young, naïve, and sheltered. When he realizes she’s also not well and has no one to protect her- he takes on the role.

What he swore was only a friendship in which he would make sure Aspen had everything she needed - he hadn’t expected her to end up sleeping in his bed due to her night terrors, or trusting him when it came to her health care and he sure as hell hadn’t been prepared when she wanted to experience pleasure. Meeting her needs takes on a whole new twisted meaning that he fears could destroy them both.

Levi & Aspin

Absolutely enjoyed Levi and Aspen journey. Levi was an alpha male, manwhore, STd, an A****e, and was a selfish D**k.
Aspen was a young impressionable female, naïve, inexperienced, sheltered because of her health issues, innocent, and lived through her romance novels because she believed she would never have an opportunity to experience love and family.
Levi cared for Aspen after her sister was killed. He was selfish, wanted her obedience, and wanted to control her. When he realized she had health issues and he wanted to protect her.
Aspen had every right to be upset with Levi because he played with her heart and emotions. He used her for his own selfish games. He even brought the other woman to dinner. Cold Bast***. The OW
Continued rubbing up against him, and Levi didn’t want to be cruel to Other Women but yet he was cruel to Aspen. What a Jerk***.
Contradiction much! Old cliché needed to take the edge off and be satiated before being with Aspen. I know there was no relationship but him he played with Aspen’s emotions and heart, so cruel despite his intentions. Levi did do a lot for the FMC but getting there was a difficult journey, walking STD, liar, and played with Aspen’s heart in the worst way possible. There is a HEA.

Addictive

Aspen’s life is turned upside down after a horrible tragedy. But as these SMOKE SERIES men do, Levi helps her through it. I listened to the audio, which was amazing. When I was done, my first thought was darn it. It’s over already? This definitely felt like the start of a duet. This couple NEEDS another book. WHISKEY SMOKE was heavily focused on these characters getting to know each other. Levi. And. His. Mouth. Ms. Glines out-did herself with him. I could’ve easily given this five stars if there was a bit more action. The brief action there was seemed to be resolved super quick. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another Great Book in the Series!

I really enjoyed this book. The narrators were perfect for the characters and the story was entertaining. I liked Levi's alpha personality and Aspen's innocence. There was one scene that had me wanting to scream at Aspen to get a backbone, but I guess it worked with this couple's dynamic.

Like the prior books in the series, this is on the lighter side of bad boys.

Another Protective, Possessive Mafia Romance

I would like to thank Wordsmith Publicity and Sparks Fly Studios for providing this ALC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Whiskey Smoke is the sixth book in the Smoke series by Abbi Glines. Read the summary above to see what this book is about. This is a mafia romance about Levi Sheppard and Aspen Chance. Aspen had a rare heart condition and had led an extremely sheltered life. Aspen first met Levi when he came to her sister’s house, he returned to rescue her when her sister was killed by a gang and her life was in danger. Completely out of character, Levi stepped in to take care of her, determined to resist his attraction to her. I really enjoyed this audiobook. The narrators were perfect for the characters they read in this dual POV story. This was a dark romance with a possessive, obsessed, alpha hero and a sweet, sheltered, virgin heroine. I love the camaraderie that developed between the wives and girlfriends of this group of men, all living together or nearby and especially the way they immediately accepted Aspen. She was not the typical woman to find herself living among members of the Southern Boy Mafia, but with no one to take care of her the entire group adopted her, no questions asked. I enjoyed Levi’s struggles to come to grips with the reasons behind his driving need to care for all of Aspen’s needs and Aspen’s innocent curiosity to experience more in life, including intimacy. The chemistry between the two was explosive, delivering plenty of steam. Readers who enjoy dark mafia romance with possessive, obsessive MMCs would definitely enjoy this audiobook. I recommend that they check it out today!

Hooked me on the whole series

I happened upon this author and series by accident (hunting audiobooks narrated by Sean Masters), so I jumped in with book 6. Holy hell! Narration was fantastic, which I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the writing and storyline. She writes the hell out of my favorite type of MMCs - The hot af and just the right amount of a-hole type, so of course I needed all their stories. Currently, book 1 and 2 are dual narration, and books 3 and beyond are duet narration. Probably best to listen in order, but I listened to all the books completely out of order (Levi to Kye to Gage etc) and I’m fine. I’ve loved them all.

Levi and Aspen 🔥❤️

🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶.5

I've loved Levi and Aspen's story since it first come out. I'm so excited that it's out on Audio now. I love how this whole series has had different narrators for every story. Most series use the same narrators throughout it. Not the Smoke Series. Every book in this Southern Mafia series has different people for every main couple.

Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon did an excellent job portraying the main characters voices. Levi's voice is described a deep and raspy. We know that his character smokes cigarettes certain times. Jason's voice sounds like his voice would. My only hiccup on it was that he sounded way older than an early 30 year old guy. That's my hang up though. Erin Mallon 's voice portrayed Aspen very well. I loved how it was their voices in the other characters POV when that person talked in the book. You don't have to listen to the male trying to sound like a female and visa-versa. This is a great series and a must-read/listen to book.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶.5

I love this series. Whiskey Smoke is book #6 in the Smoke Series by Abbi Glines. This is Levi and Aspen's story. A young 20 year old woman who is thrusted into this bad mafia boys life when her sister is shot and killed.

Aspen only feels safe with Levi after he rescues her from the same people who killed her sister. Her sister might have said that Levi's a bad man and to stay away from him. That was before he saved her life and took her home with him to live. It's bad enough that Aspen has been attracted to him since he showed up at her door weeks earlier in the middle of the night. Theirs just something about him that she feels safe with. He's the only person who makes her feel safe. He's the only person who acts like she truly matters.

Levi doesn't date, and he certainly doesn't do love. He doesn't know what it is about the young, tiny, auburn haired woman that has his possessive side roaring. To mark her as his and claim her. But he has to remember that she's not his. She's innocent and way too sweet for him, but boy, does he want to dirty her up. He also needs to keep her safe from the gang that killed her sister, but they might not be the only ones after Aspen.

Tropes:
- Southern Mafia Romance
- Age-Gap
- Possessive Hero "MINE"
- Bad Boy/Good Girl
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Virgin FMC
- Found Family
- Kidnapping
- Playboy MMC

Incredible Story & Listen🎧 Captivating & Steamy!

Abbi Glines does it again and pens another winning novel set in her “Smoke” series, a southern mafia romance novel, one that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. I am loving this series and the fantastic and unique mafia world Glines created and as much as I would like to say the series keeps getting better and better, it would not be fair to the earlier books, which are just as amazing. This sixth book features Levi Shephard, the bad boy who does not do relationships and Aspen Chance, the fragile sister of Irish, aka Kitty, who works at the strip club, the “Devil’s Lair”, that Levi frequents. Aspen lived a sheltered life with her grandmother until her passing and then her sister took her in, who is also keeping her sheltered, especially from her life and the people she knows. Levi was at the club when a fight broke out, a gunfight and one of those shots hit Kitty, and Levi could not save her but knew her sister was home alone, so he went to make sure she was safe. I loved how everything played out in this book and it was great to watch Levi, who does not do “love” fall for Aspen. She brought out something in him, and not just his caring side, but a protective and possessive side, too, and she was the light of his darkness, and an angel to his devil and diabolical ways. And like the earlier books in the series, Glines’ writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. There is never a dull moment in this book and the story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Abbi Glines, thank you for another amazing story and wild ride.

🎧📚🎧 Sean Masters and Rose Dioro were incredible in bringing these characters and story to life. They understood the characters they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role they performed. Masters nailed it as Levi, showcasing all aspects of his personality and demeanor, playing an overprotective, possessive alpha bad boy perfectly. Dioro was just as amazing in her role as Aspen, grasping every aspect of her personality as well, from her naivety to her strength and determination. Both were fantastic performing the roles of all the secondary characters, too. These entertaining storytellers made a fantastic narration team, with voices that complemented each other and a performance that elevated the already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another amazing listen!

Love me some Levi

Abbi is given us another banger after banger this is a great year. This series is f…ing awesome I love every MC more than the last. Her FMC have you wishing they get their happy ending and her MMC as much as you hate them throughout the book for what they do they find a way to your heart and undies 😝. They are possessive, controlling, naughty and damn right sexy.

These narrator are PHENOMENAL. Rose had this way of bringing Aspen’s lack of experience to life. You felt every experience she had. Sean your voice does things to my body and I ain’t complaining. I listened to this book once and when I finished it I started again because the way Sean made Levi come to life…swoon..
