About this listen

After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today’s leading master of what Tolkien called “secondary creation”, the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the god king one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn’t like his job, and the immortal who’s still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.

Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren’s capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.

By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the god king; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

enthralling

Sanderson covers more story and humanity in this single novel than in his usual two—and those twice as long as Warbreaker. I like Sanderson, but this novel has all his genius with more humanity and a better pace than he usually achieves.

Sanderson’s Underrated Standalone

it was great only a few things were bothersome. the music is too loud. imagine reading a book with music blaring in the same room in a few moments the music made the words hard to hear. music was good and added to the story it's just too loud. also the names are vastly pronounced wrong or atleast different than the audiobook not sure who got it wrong but its something to take note of. EDIT: THEY DID SOMETHING inexcusable.... they mispronounced Hoids name I guess these organizations dont bother doing research or consulting the author. it was a fun listen none the less.

I enjoyed this audiobook, the only complaint I have is the background music and a women’s wailing singing voice constantly playing. I may never get rid of that sound in my head 😄

A great story told in a dramatic way

I really enjoyed this version of Warbreaker. The voices and music brought the story to life. It felt like I was listening to a movie that played in my head.

Another review wrote that the background music was too loud for the dialog but I didn't have any problems.

Entertaining Story and Fun Audio

Interesting story but boy it got cheesy at some moments. I also didn’t like the full explanation of the plot or twists by the characters. I mean allow for a little bit mystery to be solved by the reader. But it was still the unique magic system and absolutely amazing characters by Sanderson that made me really enjoy this. Plus the graphic audio is incredible

Love the graphic audio interesting story

Graphic audio always has the best adaptations of all time. Absolutely loved this one because the actors were on point in every scene!

I liked the format, especially the different voice actors. I would have mastered the sound effects and music a little lower in volume though

Cool new idea

This experience was significantly better than the original narration. This version really captures the complete tone of the story, especially its darker moments. Definitely worth it!

So Much Better Than The Original Audiobook
