A breath of fresh air

This story takes a more colorful and dramatic approach to Sanderson’s usual style, and expands on it in a playful way through the eyes of the Cosmere’s favorite storyteller.

Definitely made me laugh uproariously on multiple occasions throughout the story, which earned me many stares as I was in a public location for most of my listening experience.

Few books suck the reader into a beautiful set of characters, places, and ideas in the light-hearted way that Tress does. Amazing narratory writing and just perfect reading and editing make this story soooooooo engrossing. Do not miss the gem!

A fun little story

I liked the characters and their development. I liked the world building a lot. Cool ideas well written and thought out.

Exceeds expectations by leaps and bounds

I have listened (and re-listened) to many of Brandon Sanderson's works, many of them narrated by Michael Kramer, but this one took me by storm. The fact that Mr. Sanderson chose to narrate this from Hoyd's perspective gave it a delightful level of whimsy, and yet another glimpse into a beautifully imaginative world with dynamic characters who feel like actual and relatable people made me knock this volume out in a single over-time shift at work. Mr. Kramer's performance is to be expected for any of his performances, which is to say that when I listen to an audiobook and just can't get into it because the narrator is simply lackluster, I remark to myself, "Well, they're no Michael Kramer." Absolute titans of their respective crafts. I highly recommend.

Best Kind of Adult Fairytale

the story was interesting, worldbuilding was captivating, tone engaging and also somehow nostalgic which was brought out even more by the amazing narrator. Fantastic stand alone book!

Brandon Sanderson lite

Not your typical Sanderson book. However I found it delightful. Tress is a wonderful character and I found myself smiling throughout the whole book. The writing is brilliant as always. Narrator was fantastic as well. Great book!!!

Amusing & Profound

I’m a new visitor to Brandon Sanderson’s cosmere universe and I have love every book I’ve read. This was a shade different from the others, but I loved it nevertheless. Telling from Hoyd’s perspective let it be incredibly hilarious and then stunningly profound in almost a flippant manner. I greatly enjoyed it. I’m going to have to go through it again to write down my favorite snippets.
