About this listen

Wealthy tech whiz Sena Abrigo has deep roots in the Arizona-Mexico borderlands. But when she marches into Owen Station on red-soled stilettos like she just walked off the cover of Vogue, she plans to pull this little town into the future. And she is used to getting exactly what she wants. First, she has to get past Hazel Butler.

The proud granddaughter of Irish immigrant miners, Hazel loves her job at the library, her spooky cat, her opinionated friends, vintage Mary Janes, and the little house she inherited. And she is determined to protect the historic legacy of her town.

In spite of their differences and because of them, sparks fly and love isn’t far behind. But Sena’s arrival doesn’t just turn Hazel’s life upside down in the most wonderful of ways. It sets off an explosive series of events exposing an ugly truth lying just beneath the town’s surface, threatening their chance at love…and their lives.

Funky & Cool

I liked the setting along the border and the inclusion of Mexican culture. The supernatural aspects were funky and cool. The story felt unnecessarily rushed and intense but maybe that’s emulating the fever pitch of the towns emotions

Very Good Book!

I enjoyed the book and the way that it was written. The two main characters were sexy and adorable at the same time. Hazel and Sena had enough electricity and chemistry building up between them that they could light up the whole little town!

The town of Owen Station had enough quirkiness that made it one of the supporting cast of characters! In some ways, it reminds me of the ghost town of Jerome also in Arizona, also a mining town and its near Sedona.

The two authors created such animosity between Sena and the old timers that did not welcome them in town and were bigoted against the new residents of the town. This is a very believable reality in Arizona at the present time.

The narrator Lula Larkin was excellent creating all the voices of the characters in a very believable way. Overall, well done!
