About this listen

No good deed...

While still recuperating from injuries sustained in her previous case, the last thing psychic investigator Lucy Valentine wants is to dive into another job. But when Detective Lieutenant Aiden Holliday comes calling for help in finding a missing woman, saying no is not an option.

TV journalist Kira Fitzpatrick has vanished without a trace. There's little for Lucy to go on except picking up Kira's current investigation where she left off. The fearless reporter had been close to cracking one of the year's biggest cases: the disappearance of a two-year-old boy.

...goes unpunished.

Now Lucy must use her abilities to find both of them. As she follows a twisted trail of lies and deceit, she uncovers a shocking twist to Kira's exposé that someone is desperate to keep secret. It's a race against the clock as Lucy struggles to discover who's telling the truth...and who's willing to kill to keep her from solving the case.

LOVE THIS GIRL

I have truly enjoyed the Lucy Valentine mysteries. These are good books and are not smutty. Lucy does tend to spend way to much time wondering if there is true love for her and if it will last.

entertaining cozy series but...

I found Webber's Lucy Valentine series to mostly fit my current craving for easy, cozy mysteries. There's humor, romance, plenty of pets, lots of friends and family and a touch of magic to balance out the darker aspects of murder mysteries. Dina Perlman is an okay narrator but some of the voice choices and fake giggling bugged. My biggest issue revolved around the fact that Lucy's moral compass clearly stems from a place of white, wealthy privilege. This book in particular highlights that and while it didn't stop me from listening to (or regret buying) these stories, it did affect my overall enjoyment of the series.

I'd also like to point out that this final book in the series is almost a decade old and Webber's newer stories are completely different. Her writing and subjects have matured and I've enjoyed her books very much.

Too much

This is my least favorite from this series. Overall it was okay but there was just too many storylines happening. There were too many characters to try to keep track of. The ending felt like the writer gave up and spelled out everything in 5 minutes.
