About this listen

New York Times best-selling author MaryJanice Davidson "continues to put her own unique spin on paranormal romance" (Fallen Angel Reviews), and in this all-new anthology, she’s three times as outrageous as ever before.…

"Undead and Underwater" - Betsy, queen of the undead, and Fred, the dour could’ve-been-a-princess mermaid, reluctantly team up to help a mutual friend in trouble. After all, a friend in need is a friend who, well, can really test your patience - because Betsy and Fred aren’t exactly BFFs. What they do have in common is the source of the problem: a man. And what’s more troubling than love?

"Super, Girl!" - Meet Karen Kilher, human resources representative and round-the-clock superhero. Born with the ability to convert anything she eats into crime-fighting energy, Karen is now faced with her toughest challenge: the sexy new hire who has a mad crush on her. But how does Karen break the news that she’s more of a Wonder Woman than he can imagine? She’d better think of something fast, because letting this guy go would be a crime.

"Crying Wolf" - As leader of the Pack, it’s Lara Wyndham’s job to usher her breed to safety after the cataclysmic Kardashian Riots of 2025 - and fend off the advances of Jack Gardner, a sexy Packer with alpha urges and a knack for getting into trouble. No matter how bad Lara wants it, she doesn’t need it. Not that intoxicating scent of his, or his talented mouth, or that perfect ass. Then again…

What the heck was this?

Over half the book is stories from Wyndham Vampires and her Mermaid Book. I downloaded this because I wanted more of the Vampire Queen Betsy series. I think I got 10 chapters of that and maybe a 3rd of the book.

Not what I expected.

Would you consider the audio edition of Undead and Underwater to be better than the print version?

Never "read" it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Betsy, of course. Fred was also interesting.

Which character – as performed by Nancy Wu – was your favorite?

Again, I gotta say Betsy. I love her.

Any additional comments?

Anything written by MJD entitled "Undead..." SHOULD BE TOTALLY ABOUT BETSY AND HER ENTOURAGE. I'm just sayin'...

Dying for more Fred!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES! I love Fred as the anti little mermaid.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!

Any additional comments?

I would LOVE to see the rest of Fred's story come to audiobook!

Disappointed

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If this had been a true continuation of the previous stories, I would have given it a much higher review. This is just a mish mash of a bunch of randomness.

Would you ever listen to anything by MaryJanice Davidson again?

Possibly. I'm feeling pretty burned at the moment.

What about Nancy Wu’s performance did you like?

She's always great. I really enjoy listening to her.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Undead and Underwater?

Most of them.

Any additional comments?

Complete waste of a credit.

was she on meth when she wrote this???

What disappointed you about Undead and Underwater?

This book isn't about queen Betsy antics or friends/husband/satan/ghosts or vampires. Sooooo disappointing. I normally love these books, but this was so manic that the storyline made zero sense.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Moon Island by JR Rain

Would you listen to another book narrated by Nancy Wu?

Mmmaybe. I can't tell if her manic delivery of the story was her portraying these unstable characters or if she is a spaz. I did think she was funny.

What character would you cut from Undead and Underwater?

Fred

Any additional comments?

I do love the Queen Betsy series to death. (Pun) I just hope the next book that says "Undead and ..." on the cover will actually be about Betsy.

Scattered and unorganized

If you've read the Undead and series don't bother with this one
It's so all over the place, this story or should I say stories are a struggle to follow

waste of a credit

gave up during chapter 4 - its not an 'Undead' story - wish I would have read the reviews before I wasted a credit.
