About this listen

Vitoria Miene lives in New York - on the opposite side of the country as her best friend. After careful thought, she decides to pack everything up and move to Seattle. There is only one problem with her plan - Wes Novak. He hates her and does everything in his power to make her miserable.

Wes has never detested anyone as much as he does Vitoria. He believes she is evil incarnate. If she wasn’t best friends with his brother’s fiancée, he’d never have to see her again. Unfortunately, he sees more of her than he wants to. So much so, he is starting to have trouble keeping his hands off her.

Wes and Tori fight every step of the way. They combust in each other’s arms as much as they bicker. Can they stop battling long enough to find the one thing they both want - love?

Hot, steamy and exciting couldn't put it down

This was such a fun listen I just love the bickering back and forward between them. You had no trouble feeling the emotions from hate, confusion and lust these two have. The author gives you a few twists that you can work out if you listen closely. I was pretty sure but it took me awhile to realize the truth behind the story and the why of it. There is a little danger, a mystery, and lord the steam is outstanding when these two get together. When they finally come together they explode off the page with such excitement it makes your heart beat faster. It was great to see past characters from the past book, this one takes off where the last one left off. You do not need to read the first book the author gives such great back history you can read this as a standalone, but I am not sure why you would want to do that.

Ms. Wilder does a wonderful job of narration, I only found one place where she repeated some wording which I am guessing was one of the places she took a break. Besides that I could not tell if any breaks were taken. There are no background noises and no volume changes. She did an outstanding job with her many character voices. Her males are strong with deep voices and her females are sexy and sweet. I had not problem at all picturing the scenes as they unfold. She gave true emotions to her characters you could feel their feeling if they were angry, sad, happy, disappointed and excited. She even chuckled when it was called for. Her desperation and sorrow really touched me making me feel their pain. I thought her normal voice was just as pleasant as her character voices. This is the first time I have listened to her work and look forward to listening to more of it. Big thumbs up with and outstanding performance that really pulled me in

The story is touching, the twists are shocking and the plot is delightful. It is hard not to like these characters. They became like family to me, each pain they felt I felt, when they laughed so did I. When they cried I wanted to. For me it was a very emotional read with highs and lows, good and bad. Vitoria is strong, she can stand on her own and give back as good as she gets. She does have a few weaknesses those being the ones she loves and the wall her parents put up between her and her family. Wes is strong, caring and loving man to his friends and family. If he feels a wrong has been done to them he will fight until the bitter in. Tori is confused as to why he hates her, he can’t forget what he saw and those she hurt. It was truly a wonderful story from start to finish. They have one weakness and that is the other, their attraction, the pull and the passion they have each other. I loved the plot, the story just sizzles off the page as you are taken from one scene to the next. Their fighting is hot, their passion hotter. When they find the answers to the question they have one feels a fool the other relief but it also leaves them both with more questions and no answers. There was nothing I didn’t love about this story. That is why I have picked it as one of my favorite reads for the year.

Loved the first book and this one was better!

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and this one topped it! I was unsure of the narration at first since I so enjoyed the narrator on the first book but Erica brought Vitoria to life. I love the extra drama in this book. Well done!

Classic Enemies to Lovers Romance..............

Unbridled Pursuit is the second book in this romance series by Dawn Brower. I have not listened to the first book in the series, and I had no difficulty following the story. Due to a series of misunderstandings and mistaken identity, the two main characters, Wes and Vitoria, start the story with an intense dislike. As the story progresses, the author skillfully doles out clues as to why Wes hates Vitoria so passionately, which kept me glued to my iPhone. Although I thoroughly enjoyed Vitoria's strong, independent personality, I hated that she gave in so easily time and again when Wes lowered himself to kiss her. He was truly horrible to her, and I wanted her to make it harder on him to win her love. Luckily, by the end of the story, Wes redeems himself with his caring and respectful treatment of Vitoria, but I still secretly wished she had punched him more than once in the beginning. Throw in a little intrigue with the FBI, the CIA and the mob, and this is a very enjoyable and fun enemies to lovers romance.

Erica Wilder's narration is excellent. She performs the male and female parts with equal ease, and her delivery is flawless. Her habit of occasionally emphasizing in the wrong part of the sentence was somewhat distracting, but I still enjoyed her performance overall.

Not for me .

I was gifted this audio book & in return I'm offering my honest & unbiased review . This was not a book that I enjoyed . The character Wes was not a person who endears himself to the listener . Constantly arguing with Vitoria had me wondering why she put up with it . The more I listened to this book the more I kept looking to see how much longer it had to go . Sure Wes & Vitoria had sex , quite a bit of it but even that couldn't encourage me to listen to the end . Even though I did not enjoy the story I thought the narration by Erica Wilder was first class . She has a good range in her voice & going from 'male' to female voices was impressive .

The cowboy and his PR lady

We met Vitori in book 1, she was BFF w Ginny. From the first time that she laid eyes on Wes at the ranch, she was smitten; but the sexy cowboy was a jerk. Now Tori has decided to close up her office in NY and relocate to Seattle so that she could be closer to her bff. Imagine her surprise when she arrives at the airport to find Wes waiting for her. He was asked to meet her and take her to dinner w Ginny, her fiance', Dallas. Wes continues to be a jerk face and Tori is baffled. Could it be that he's getting her mixed up w her twin? This scenario drags on for a bit...Wes being a jerk and Tori not understanding. The thing is that they are attracted to each other but Wes is fighting his feelings. We eventually get to the heart of the matter w Wes...lots of drama w bad guys, guns, dead returning to life ;-)...sorry, no spoilers. Great book, just wish that Wes was not such a jerk for most of the story...I almost wanted Tori to make him work a bit harder for her forgiveness.

STEAMY READ

I liked it however, it does take some patience and time to become invested! This book is very steamy and the sex was hot. The narration was great and kept me entertained. The author did a good job with the characters but at times the plot seemed to be lacking a bit. I probably would have gotten more out of this book if I had read the previous one in this series although this book can be a standalone. This was my not first book by this author and I would read more of her books. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great Cover Matches the Man

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Love it when I can look at a cover periodically throughout a listen and see the character. Great job here with the long hair and tough cowboy face. I have to admit that I didn’t like Wes at all for most of the book. His inability to actually listen to Vitoria really irked me. And Vitoria was, well, not the brightest gem in the cave. How she failed to see any connection between Eric, her sister, and the crime boss was beyond me. It dragged through many unproductive but sexual encounters between the clueless couple. The ending took me by surprise. Unfortunately, while the initial storyline was rather slow, the juicy conclusion was sudden and brief.

Erica Wilder did a fantastic job. She switched between character voices flawlessly.

👍🏻 Solid ONE THUMB!

Wes and Tori

This book was pretty good and in my opinion, better than book 1. The pace was good and kept my attention throughout. Wes was a piece of work with all of the arguing with Tori—an enemies to lovers romance. I am glad neither book 1 or 2 had a cliffhanger.

Erica Wilder did a really good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
