Loved it. Made my commute fly by.

Preston and Child write fun little techo-pop thrillers with enough background research to sound reasonably plausible but with enough wriggle room for some pulpy action-adventure.

Characters might be a little flat, and there are some plot twists that felt forced, but overall a very enjoyable read. Nothing terribly complicated or convoluted which made it easy to pick up where you left off.

Scott Brick.... well, he's decent, but he likes to make every character sounds like they're using a "half-whispered-husky-sexy voice."

Great little entertainer

I liked the story . It moved along well and the ending isn't what I expected . I would have like the story much better I think if someone else was reading it . I would have liked it read as a mystery adventure. I really didn't like the way it was read.

Liked the Story

Whatever other reviewers say, Scott Brick is PERFECT to narrate suspenseful audiobooks. Our family got hooked on Audible and audio books years ago just because of Scott Brick's narration of another author's book - and we go out of our way to find books which are narrated by Scott Brick. He is among our favorite narrators - and to have such a great book narrated by him is THE BEST!
And - as for the book, having listened to or read so many of this duo's books, I believe that Thunderhead is just about the best book they have written. The characters were believable (if sometimes a little predictable). The story was suspenseful, intriguing, and very original. I would think up errands and stay in my car after arriving home just to listen to the next part of the story. Great book!

Narrator is GREAT with these awesome authors!

As usual, an xlnt story from Preston & Child. I think I'm burning out on Scott Brick though, between all the Clive Cussler and Preston/Child books I've listened to.. I appreciate Mr. Bricks talent but it's too much after awhile. I found it especially annoying in this listen. His sing song technique distracted me from the story throughout the entire listen resulting in a lot more rewinding. The story motivated me to persevere and I'm glad I did.

Great Story - Semi-Annoying Narration

I love all things Southwest, and spent 3 years working at the South Rim in GCNP to have a base to explore this beautiful country. Between Hillerman and the mysterious disappearance of Everett Ruess, I have long been fascinated by the beauty and the mythology and the lost cultures of the Grand Circle. This book explores so many cracks and crevaces it really packs a Wow! I am sorry I read it out of publication order because I am an obsessed Pendergast lover, so it was bittersweet to revisit past characters who aren't with the reader any longer. I can't say enough good things about it ...I can taste the grit of the desert in my teeth.

Red dirt indulgence

This one of many Preston, and Preston & Child book that I have read. This is perhaps the best of the best.

I love all books by these authors but this one is my favorite. I like how it incorporates real history with fiction. The story is adventurous and suspenseful. The characters are rich with a great storyline. The speaker was good but sometimes when a character was speaking, especially a women, he would whisper and it would be hard to hear. Overall loved it.

Page turner from the beginning but the monotonous, treacly, narration nearly forced me to delete this book. The narrator attempted to lather emotion on every single word at the beginning of the book dragging the dialogue through clay. It was just overwrought to my great annoyance but he finally wore himself out and picked up his pace as the story picked up its pace.

Great story. Annoying narration.

After struggling through the fist few sessions commuting in my car, the plot grabbed me by the throat and held on for an entire Saturday binge. Bravo.

Starts slow but hang in there!
