INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER—THE #1 TV SHOW ON NETFLIX

Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller is back on the job in this heart-stopping thriller from a renowned #1 New York Times bestselling author.

“One of the finest legal thrillers of the last decade” —Associated Press

On the night he celebrates a big win, defense attorney Mickey Haller is pulled over by police, who find the body of a former client in the trunk of his Lincoln. Haller is immediately charged with murder but can’t post the exorbitant $5 million bail slapped on him by a vindictive judge.

Mickey elects to represent himself and is forced to mount his defense from his jail cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles. All the while he needs to look over his shoulder—as an officer of the court he is an instant target, and he makes few friends when he reveals a corruption plot within the jail.

But the bigger plot is the one against him. Haller knows he’s been framed, whether by a new enemy or an old one. As his trusted team, including his half-brother, Harry Bosch, investigates, Haller must use all his skills in the courtroom to counter the damning evidence against him.

Even if he can obtain a not-guilty verdict, Mickey understands that it won’t be enough. In order to be truly exonerated, he must find out who really committed the murder and why. That is the law of innocence.

In his highest stakes case yet, the Lincoln Lawyer fights for his life and proves again why he is “a worthy colleague of Atticus Finch . . . in the front of the pack in the legal thriller game” (Los Angeles Times).

Good story, music is distracting

Michael Connelly is a great storyteller, and the narrator does a good job although his voice is a little dramatic. The thing I couldn’t get over is the background music which kept distracting me from becoming fully immersed in the story. I wish there was a way to turn it off.

Fun story

Little long and sometimes over the top tough guy dialog. Good listen. Not great. I like Bosch better.

Music

Music is annoying and distracting sometimes to the point that dialog is lost and requires backtracking.
Loose the background music…. Please!

Great book! Music is not a real problem. Must read!

I do not mind the music, it is not too loud or annoying like readers have mentioned. I barely notice it. The book and story were written very well. The only thing I did not like were the cheap shots thrown at Our last president, it seemed forced and like the author needed us to know his political alliance. I enjoy books where I don’t need to know what people lean towards. I’ll give the book a 4.8 ( minus .2 for the weird inorganic jabs at #45)

Fascinating story, compelling performance

Great story, full of details and plot twists. A real non-page turner! Beautiful performance and production with added sound effects.

Music in the background

I don’t know if Peter Giles knows that there was what sounded like a xylophone or wind chimes playing thoroughout the entire audio book. It was very annoying and I almost stopped listening, but the story was too good. Investigate this so it does not happen again.

Well told story

Well told story. Kept my interest. Female characters were not as well defined as the male counterparts.
Well produced with music, reading, voices.

The background music is most distracting and truly does not add to the book or its narration.

Background music - hoping other books will not have background music. If so - provide a way to mute.

Irritating

Background noise is irritating and distracting. Book was good but could have been better without the noise clutter.
