CHARMING FEEL-GOOD PNR AS TRUE LOVE WINS THE DAY

I had not heard of this author before but anything with the word 'Highlander' in it and it's got my immediate attention - then couple it with time travel and a doomed love and I'm hitting the 'Add To Cart' button before I know it.

First you have Caitly (Cate) whose fiancée has been 'caught in the act' by her and she's feeling vulnerable but adventurous which is lucky because Conner reaches out through time to her and makes her a strange but tempting offer begging her for help and she finds she just can't refuse him (sensible girl). Conner, a sexy, handsome Highland hunk from the year 1272 (who's a positively drool-worthy temptation - especially in his kilt), is on a quest to save his sister and so duty dictates that he must find a bride but his reach spans hundreds of years into the future until, with the help of Fae magic, he finds Cate.

There was great chemistry between the two likeable H/H who have emotional baggage to overcome as both have been betrayed by love in the past so trust must be earned before love can blossom. Smooth flowing entertaining plot, likeable characters with good secondary ones too and the usual evil Laird whose plans don't include Cate and he tries everything to stop the marriage. It was romantic, tender, there was sexual tension, danger, fun, it had a mythical Legend and the magical Fae finally had to step in to help fate, and the lovers, along and it'll have you saying "Oh no no no" and "Ahh yes yes yes" over and over again.

Worth a credit? Yes, it was a very enjoyable listen and a good start to an 8 (so far) book series which I'd be happy to use my credits on, however I do feel that this may be compared to K.M.Moning's Highlander series and unfortunately, for me, it doesn't quite have the same depth - but it's a good second best.

Charming story

This is my first book by Melissa Mayhue and I do plan on listening/reading more of her books. I fell in love with Connor but never really cared about Kate. She seemed sort of brash to me but that could have been the way the narrator portrayed her. I liked the secondary characters but there were a lot of them to keep track of. But overall, I thought this book is a fun read. However, I do not need my historical romances to be overly accurate to the time period but if you do this may not be the book for you. But if you're like me and can enjoy the inaccuracies along with the story you will like this book!

Absolutly Enchanting

The story was engaging and very well created. I loved the characters and the world created and it's made my re-read list. The narration was also fabulous and I look forward to more.

5 stars with a better narrator

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The author is new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. This is a sweet, fun, romantic story. I liked all the characters. The narrator is not the best at the Scottish brogue and it is very off-putting in the beginning. I found myself getting used to her voice and reading style and it stopped bothering me. I wish Rosalyn Landor could narrator all historical romances.

Not bad, but could be improved.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, I enjoyed the tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband?

When they rescue Connor and his sister and bring them back. I was worried about how it the author would find a way to give us a happy ending.

How could the performance have been better?

The whispers and high pitch of some voices made it difficult to understand all the conversations. When the narrator lowers the volume for whisper or the frequency of her voice to a high pitch it is not understandable at a volume that is comfortable for normal listening.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Evening the conversational volume.

Any additional comments?

There are three brothers who now work with Connor, Tell me about their adventures. Plus I would like a meeting between Connor and Richard. More stories please, with or without the faery connection.

Surprisingly Good

I don't typically read romance novels. However, sometimes you just need a change of pace. Years ago I had read a series of romance time travel novels by Karen Marie Moning that were very good. After that series, I had a difficult time finding another author I enjoyed. Most of theses type books feature hot headed men and stupid women. The only conflict in the story is because the main characters are to dumb to communicate. So when a review of this book compared it to the Karen Marie Moning books I so enjoyed, I decided to give time travel romance one last try. I am so glad I did! Yes the male lead is domineering, but he is probably realistic of 13 century men. The best was the female lead. Only occasionally did she act foolish and helpless and never to the point I was ready to quit reading, as has been the case with other similar books. While this book did not contain the same laugh out loud dialog of Moning's series, it was fun, interesting and enjoyable. I definitely read the next book in the series.

I had fun with this one

I had no expectations when I selected this book except that it would be fun and silly. I love time travel stories because I'm a kid at heart. And it did prove to be fun and silly, so that's my story and I'm sticking to it. It helped me pass the time while waiting for the results of my biopsy.

Nice romantic time traveler

What did you like about this audiobook?

It was a good story with good narration.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

I don't feel compelled to continue with the series, but if I catch them on sale, I would probably go for book 2.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

The story has good ideas, nice characters, and good execution. I just think it feels a bit boring.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Not wrong - I could listen to her, she was not the best.

Do you have any additional comments?

This is an okay time traveler, but there are just so many better ones (ie - Knight in Shining Armor& KMM Highlanders)

Hits all my wishes for an interesting story

I love medieval historical romances and have recently discovered time travel in this genre to my delight. This hit all my wishes. It has a strong heroine a hot strong alpha male and an interesting story brought to life by great narration. I can’t wait to begin book two.

Good story

I liked the story and the narration was pretty good, except that the Scottish voices all sounded a little like Papa Smurf... not sure what was off with them, but they were definitely off.
