About this listen

"The fae are no joke, girl. Be wise. Be smart. Be cunning if you can…"

What are you supposed to do when your father reveals that he made a binding agreement to marry you off to the Dark Fae Prince across the mountains?

He'd done it to save our kingdom; that was fair. What's not fair is that I have to leave everything I ever knew to marry a monster. Under the cover of night, I escape the palace to use my secret magic and be a midwife to the city's women, and now I have to leave them all behind.

The fae prince is an arrogant jerk and a dirty fighter. The commander of their elite forces is a terrifying enigma. When they arrive to take me away, what happens next is nothing I could have ever dreamed of.

I end up at the fae warrior academy for their males, disguised as a male, and have to share a dorm room with my fae fiancé. There are big powers at play here, and I'm the only person with the power to make a difference.

Could things get any worse? The answer is yes.

She's the Man meets Sarah J. Maas in this slow-burn spicy romantic fantasy.

I loved the strength in the main character.

Throughout the story I couldn't help but cheer for the main characters development and get excited as she learned to wield her anger.

Unique and strongly feminine.

I loved it! Unique story, strong believable characters and fun little twists. A little predictable but not offensively.

Keeps you guessing

A lot of these paranormal fantasy type books are usually pretty easy to guess what will happen next, but not this one. There’s many twists and turns, and Saraya is strong but not stupid like other fmc you find in books. I’m headed off to listen to the next book now! The narrators did well, there were some pregnant (lol, she’s a midwife), pauses that lasted just long enough for me to think my ear buds turned off, but I think overall it is a great read/listen. It’s very slow burn which usually isn’t my style but I do like it, and am downloading the next book as soon as I finish this review

Loved loved loved!

The story was rich and so entertaining. It was nice to have a heroine who was tstl or annoying. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The voice actors were great and very believable. Their voices for the opposite sex weren't bad either. Great audible book, highly recommend. Now to listen to the next and see what happens.

Loved the story...not the audio quality

The audio quality of the female lead left something to be desired. It is often enough interrupted by back round noises such as doors closing, sirens and cars driving by, and random bangs, and while it's not constant, it is frequent enough to pull you out of story at some frustrating moments.

The story itself is great and I immediately went straight to the next book.

Hilarious and beautifully dramatic

It really pops off when she arrives at the boys academy but I love the whole book! The writing is really good and the inclusivity is heartwarming and really enriches the characters and story.

amazing story lousy narration

I love this story so much that even though I cannot stand the female narrator and her long awkward pauses I have to buy book two. The main character is strong and brave. She's young and naive but keeps going. Her character evolves quickly in the face of new information and that is wondrous. I also dig the feminist edge as it is needed in the world in general anyway. The world building is fabulous.

This book has to be a joke.

This book is terrible! It's like a parody of romantasy. The storyline is rushed. The names in the book are ridiculous. The FMC performance is terrible. I don't recommend.

Guys it’s terrible

I love the trope and the prose itself is ok - but the plot is boring af and the narrator sounds like she’s holding the book and reading to children. Flat.
