However, the closer she gets to saving her kingdom, the more she realizes a singular problem stands in her way.
The dragon.
The King's bodyguard is more than a slathering beast. He's a man. And the longer she's near him, the more she realizes that perhaps the king isn't the most dangerous person in the kingdom. Perhaps she had to guard not only her body, but her heart. For a dragon mates for life, and they're hard pressed to give up their treasures.

I am so happy I finally picked this book up off my TBR. I love Emma’s writing style. The words flow easily and create the most beautiful image in your mind. I have yet to pick up a book of Hamm’s that I didn’t like.

Abraxus is the dark knight and shining armour. By no means perfect; just as a main hero should be in, my opinion.
The plot is a bit predictable only because I have listened to soooo much romantic fantasy. But the author threw a few surprises in that made the overall story a nice listen.
Narration is wonderful. I enjoy listening to the male and female voices. These are 2 of my favorite narrators so that's another plus!
If you enjoy Sarah J. Maas and Jennifer Armentrout, you will likely enjoy this story. It is very similar in theme but much shorter in length. T It was worth the credit for me. I have already purchased the other books.

Lore was a bit whiny and didn’t show as strong as I thought she would, but she’s likable enough.
Abraxus…I adore this dragon. He must be protected at all costs. He is fantastic.
Love the cleaner romance in this especially after a spicy book. The angst and longing is fantastic and is thrown in at all the right points.
For a classic fantasy romance book with a plot that’s pretty predictable, it was well done. I recommend this to those who want a book in between series but don’t want something super crazy.
