About this listen

A tragic past. An uncertain future

Twelve years after the grisly murder of her parents, Kaitlyn Delaney has finally found peace. She has friends, a good job, a place to call home and a new life to live. But then a shadow creeps in from Katie's past, reminding her that she will never completely escape its terrifying grip.

When private investigator Dan Oliver is called to the scene of a gruesome crime in New Orleans, he can't help but hear echoes of the Delaney case, the unsolved murder that made him leave law enforcement. As he digs deeper, he unearths more chilling similarities—including mysterious letters connecting the killer to a string of murders that terrorized the Big Easy in 1919.

Now reunited after all this time, Dan and Katie scour the streets together, desperate to find answers before more lives are lost. But the otherworldly roots of this evil run far deeper than they ever imagined…and only the most precious of sacrifices will bring its twisted reign to an end.

great listen, except...

I loved the book and the story, but it ticked me off everything the narrator said bay nets instead of Ben yays for beignets. it is a0 story in New Orleans for goodness sake!

Mispronounced words should be re-recorded.

I’ve always enjoyed Heather Graham and especially her Crew of Hunters novels, but I’m wondering if she listens (or pays someone to listen) to the audiobooks. Simple Nola words we’re so badly miss pronounce that they distracted me from the story on numerous occasions.

Great story

Please make sure the narrators know how to pronounce the words correctly. It almost ruined it for me.

At least learn to pronounce the words correctly...

Usually the narrators know how to at least say beignet(been-yay) when narrating a book based in Louisiana, that should be important to the author. Liked the story, the delivery could have been better.

Narrator slaughtered basic NOLA words...

example "beignets" & "Le se bon ton roulette" for example. He really needed a coach!

Narrator issues - story great

Another wonderful Heather Graham!!!

The narrator made it difficult to follow what character was speaking. Many sounded just like the other. Also, some scenes needed a gentle pause to give the listener the feel that scenes were changing.

One positive, he did give emotion and feeling. So if he were to add more voices to his repertoire I would enjoy his narratives much more.

The Story, in Heather Graham fashion, was moving, intriguing, and kept you searching for the killer or killers. The love story was expected yet didn’t overtake the main story of mystery and intrigue.

Overall, I Enjoyed It

Entertaining book. I'll always enjoy the Krewe of Hunters series, although I do wish she would include more Krewe members in the storyline since they are a group. That's how the series first started. Another thing, who doesn't know how to pronounce beignet? That drove me nuts.
