About this listen

Aidan Flynn, a private investigator and eldest of the Flynn brothers, scoffs at the haunted-house rumors - especially since Kendall Montgomery, a tarot card reader who has been living in the mansion, is the one to tell him the tale of a woman in white. But when he finds a human bone on the grounds and another by the river, Aidan delves into the dark history of the Flynn plantation.

Forced together to uncover the truth, Aidan and Kendall realize that a serial killer whose victims seem to vanish into thin air has long been at work...and that their own fates are about to be sealed forever unless they believe in the unbelievable.

Cute

I loved the story very cute and a good chilling mystery. Didn't like the performer paused too much made me think it paused or stopped working. Other then that a wonderful book. I will be reading the others!

Slow start but fantastic read

This book was a little bit slow-starting for me at first. I actually had to relisten to the first 2 chapters and then I got into it. Could've been me. So good! I just downloaded the second book and can't wait.

Fair novel, bad narrator

I usually love Heather Graham novels, but this one was a struggle to finish. The plot was predictable but the narrator's female voices were horrid, as was his Louisiana accent.

Felt a bit disconnected

I wasn't exactly thrilled with this book. It really didn't seem to flow well. If this is book one then I would have expected a bit more background on the main characters then there was. I spent a lot of time with the "Huh" thought going through my head. Having the sex scenes narrated by a man and being that in depth in the description was really not something I was used to with a male narrator. Normally you get that more in the books narrated by women so that threw me off a bit. I would probably listen to another just because I want to see if they get better, but it would probably have to be on sale for me to do it.

Engaging New Orleans mystery

What did you love best about Deadly Night?

New Orleans setting is well-done. Juxtaposition between Civil War times and the present is interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Deadly Night?

The initial scene between the union and confederate soldier grabs your attention.

Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A modern-day New Orleans detective ghost story
