About this listen

Secret societies, serial killers, and a seriously snarky PI.

When Ginger Mitchell finds out her mother committed suicide, she packs up her life as a Vegas "dancer" (hey, somebody's gotta do it) and drives her cherry-red SUV straight home to Portland. Without a disapproving mom to rebel against, what was the point?

When she arrives back in her hometown, she finds a lot more going on than fancy food trucks and put-a-bird-on-it hipsters.

Murders are being passed off as suicides. College-aged women keep going missing. And then there's the troubling spate of mobsters who keep inviting her out to eat.

With a pile of cash saved from her last job and no one around to tell her not to, Ginger decides to become a private investigator, to find out exactly what's gone wrong in the City of Roses. First up: Her mother's "suicide."

Includes the first six novellas in the Roseland series, Home Is Where the Start Is, The Ruth Is Out There, The Body in the Pool, Amber Alert, Jane Dead, Welcome to Roseland.

I usually do a lot more sci-fi and fantasy books, and haven't read any mystery, suspense or detective novels in a long time, but I really loved this book. I really liked the MC and her partner Rhino, partly because I live in Oregon though not in portland loved the setting. I just found it a much more interesting P.I./detective novel then any I tried before. Definitely recommend

Not usually into this Genre but loved it

Not my usual genre but well worth it. Highly recommend. I really only gave it a shot because I'm a fan of Eric Ugland's other books

Love the characters, but so much cussing I actually felt is distracted from the book. However is cussing is no matter, then these are great books.

Story +6 , cussing -2

keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and hole-lee-$hit, that ending...wow.

Truly Captivating

I enjoyed the author from The Good Guys and Bad Guys series and wanted to support his other endeavors. I'm really happy I did. Love the characters the story and the pace of the book .

Great series

I almost passed this up, so glad I didn't! What a fun book to listen to. Narration fits the main character to a T. Lots of suspense with twists that kept me reading and wanting more. Humor made it better than my favorite "Monk" series. Volume 2 just waiting for me to finish this review.

Suspense/Murder, Supernatural, Humor & Compassion

I really enjoy the Good/Bad Guy series, that's what brought me to this book.
Ugland is a political lefty, and it shows in the story. He's referred to Ben Shapiro as an asshole without mentioning his name directly. This book carries on his bias.
The MC gets into, and out of, implausible situations by Deus ex Machina. Each one flowing into another. Its a good tale, but not realistic.

I will likely listen to the rest of the series because of the narrator, not the story.

Suspension of disbelief

I needed something light and entertaining and this definitely is. the narrator is perfect and really brings the characters to life. at times I caught myself smiling or chuckling at the antics. I'm looking forward to part two.

absolutely loved it
