a really good read...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book to my friends because I really enjoyed it - the author's style was great, the plot - fascinating and the characters intrigued me.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how it developed and the main characters - how they were...introduced and how the plot line twisted.

Have you listened to any of Kamryn Russell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't listened.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, it was, definetly.

Any additional comments?

I really loved the book. The author really has talent and I hope to read more of her works in the future. Her characters were original, fresh, and I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Wonderful read!

Any additional comments?

The Sword is a murder-mystery set in a small town in Texas. Ixora and Jant are the two detectives who must solve the case of a young man who was murdered by a sword. Ixora is a unique character because of her heritage and personality and the story is told from her perspective. She is kind of a tomboy and has a Goth style which makes it hard for her to be accepted by her co-workers. I thought the narrator did a great job speaking as her and I enjoyed the many different voices she gave the characters. Especially the ones who talked with a Texas accent. There is more sex in this book than I was expecting because Ixora and Jant are not just partners, but lovers too. I hope the author writes a follow-up and we can learn more about Jant.

couldn't connect with this story.

What didn’t you like about Kamryn Russell’s performance?

two types of narrators: Those who perform the work and those who read the work. Unfortunately, she is one of the latter. Although no mispronounced words, she read as the page punctuated with no character development and the ever popular emphasis on every I, we, us and our. I was constantly distracted from the story by going over in my mind how I could put different emphasis on words in the sentence to improve flow. She called this one in.

Any additional comments?

Sorry I got this one.
