About this listen

This box set includes Butterfly Kisses, Cause of Death, and Download Murder, the first three serial killer thrillers in the best-selling Detective Damien Drake series.

Who is NYPD Detective Damien Drake?

For starters, he’s an alcoholic with PTSD; a man who doesn’t play well with others and could care less about political correctness. But he’s also the one they call in when the most heinous crimes are committed by the city’s most sadistic murderers. He’s the one they bring in when there are no clues, no evidence, and the killer shows no remorse. He's the one enlisted to keep the streets of New York City safe.

Just don’t get on his bad side because he’s also the one detective in New York that you don’t want as an enemy. Because Drake is as loyal as they come and never forgets those who cross him or his family....

Entertaining

My first Patrick Logan book to read was ‘Frozen Stiff’. I wanted the back story on Chase Adams. I have fallen in love with the characters. Very enjoyable. Not predictable. Suspenseful.

There goes the neighborhood.

Loved these books can't wait for the next ones to come out. Excited about the new series too. It's refreshing to have characters that are not perfect and a little shady however deep down you know they are good. However a little worried about the good Dr. Rock bashed and his path and the road he chooses to go down. Happy writing and get busy.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME SERIES!!

I started with the Damien Drake books 1-3 and 4-6 and I was hooked! I have all 10 books and am on book 10. What I can say is that I feel that I missed something since I didn't read the Dr. Beckett Campbell series yet. I won't spoil things, but in the later book you learn things about Beckett that caught me off guard, so I would suggest you read that series maybe before Damien Drake's book 9. Although, after listening to Michael Pauley's version of Beckett, the narrator for that series is not nearly as good. My impression of Beckett was just how Pauley voiced him, a comic, quick witted, egotistical, super smart, tattooed and very self assured. I guess since I heard him first, Scott Pollak was just not as good. (of course I only listened to the samples of the other books, maybe he improves??)

I think the performance is excellent. Michael Pauley is truly talented with his different voices, male and female. Very impressive.

All I can say is you will not be disappointed if you listen to these books. Start with 1-3 and 4-6 sets and you will be hooked too.

Patrick, if you read this review, please continue Damien's adventures and don't lose Michael! He makes them great!

This is New York City not Boston!!!

The books are enjoyable; stories are okay...the only negative comment I can make is the accent on the title character. Damien sounds more like he's from Boston than NYC. I was waiting for him to "parrrrk his carrrr"

uhg... Good story but...

I bought these books in a series and was hopeful. Do yourself the favor and just read them. This narrator is horrible! Completely a monotone unbelievable read. No inflection in his voice what so ever. Best of luck.

Horrible narration

The horrible, monotonous narration simply destroys the author’s work. This audiobook is not listenable. Wish there was some sort of an approval process.

Moronic Characters Ruin Story & Performance

Originally attracted by the promising storylines of this set, I got through the first book in spite of the frustrating characters and began the 2nd hoping they'd get smarter with experience. Didn't happen. When I found myself berating the judgement of the main characters OUT LOUD, I had to admit I'd made a mistake. If these "people" had been any more reliably stupid, (sorry, but "stupid" is the only word that accurately describes them) they would have run around shooting each other. Maybe it was an attempt to make Drake, et al. more relatable to the least common denominator of humanity...? But I'm grasping at straws here. All it accomplished was to detract from a solid performance and slow the pace to a near-excruciating crawl. By the time I got a few chapters into the second book, I couldn't bear it any longer and will be exchanging this set.
