A British werewolf in the Wild West and a modern American girl collide in this steamy time travel romance.
I crave adventure and a real man, the kind who sweeps a woman off her feet and steals her breath away. But all I get in grad school is losers who don't even know how to kiss. My friends talk me into a day trip to an Old West ghost town for "fun." It's a truly lame excursion—until I'm catapulted back in time and straight into the arms of Sheriff Nathaniel Fortescue, the hottest British cowboy ever.
Kylie Drummond is not like any woman in the Devil's Outlands. She speaks strangely and dresses strangely, but unlike anyone else in this town, she does not fear me. That's her first mistake. I've been cursed to walk the night as a wolf ravening for blood, though Kylie will never know that. To protect her from me and from the Outlands’ worst elements, I must find a way to send her home—wherever or whenever that may be.
Nathaniel thinks I can't figure out his secret, but I've read enough novels about werewolves to get the picture. The attraction between us is red-hot and dangerous. Am I destined to save him? Or to destroy us both? When Nathaniel’s past sins threaten to unleash unspeakable evil, it’s not a matter of where we can hide. It’s a matter of when.
The Outlands Shifter is the first book in the Devil's Outlands series of steamy paranormal romance.

In addition to the humor in this book, it also keeps you on your toes with constant action not knowing what will happen next. It will also most surely melt your earbuds.
So much fun, exciting and sexy as hell with a storyline that keeps you guessing.
Mackenzie Cartwright and Shane East really got into these characters and there performances completely enhance this already amazing story.
Definitely not one to miss!

Time-travel, though not exactly at the center of the story, is the source of many funny moments between the main characters, as they speak different languages, and their cultural references don’t match. It brings some levity to a book otherwise heavy with horror and angst.
The romance isn’t quite the main element either as Fate is the reason behind the feelings they have for each other. The seducing is limited, but there’s a couple of sizzling sexy times.
It’s really the mythology that catches the eye–and the mind–of the reader. Between gypsy curses, werewolves, a Wild West purgatory, and a prophecy, it’s rich and full of possibilities. I don’t want to say too much, but a lot happens. That may even be the weakest part of this book–there’s so much to tell that there are big info dumps that aren’t always brought skillfully.
As for the narration, both narrators give all they have to bring this universe to life. They do a great job and I enjoy it a lot, when it was my very first audiobook of this genre.
At the crossroads between so many genres

Sizzling chemistry between the characters from the first meeting.
Fun culture shock moments (British vs. American vs. time travel!!!) and they have to learn how to communicate/understand each other.
And there's a bit of a mystical mystery to solve (since she doesn't have any clue how she got from today to the past).
The book was fast paced, kept me guessing where it would go next.
And of course, there was the requisite HEA.
Audio performance by Shane East & Mackenzie Cartwrite was done very well. Shane was the perfect amount of growley for a grumpy cursed shifter who feels very possessive/protective of the very strange woman he's just met. Mackenzie is the perfect blend of sassy modern woman and emotionally welcoming partner (once the British werewolf stops being an "ass hat").
Time Travel, Wolf Shifter and British Cowboy… oh my!

I really enjoyed the time travelling part of the story. Kylie ends up going back to Nathaniel’s time in the Wild West where he is sheriff. Kylie is independent and strong so her personality crashed with his old school upbringing. Well, his current century upbringing. I’ve traveled to the UK several times and haven’t met a British cowboy yet. I’m definitely putting that on my bucket list.
The book is a stand-alone. There are spicy scenes and shifter scenes. We get a HEA for Nathaniel and Kylie.
Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright are absolute perfection. Shane is extra growly in this and I’m all for that. Mackenzie did a wonderful job narrating Kylie. When you have these two, you’re always guaranteed an amazing narration job.
Time travelling perfection

Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright team up to tell us this story, and they truly bring it to life. Both build the suspense and excitement of the impending scenes, and the voices are incredible. Shane pulls off the brave, alluring Nathaniel with ease, and then turns and gives us some fantastic evilness with others! Mackenzie is full of feistiness as Kylie and then gives us a crazed werewolf like no other! Phenomenal narrations and hours of entertainment.
