About this listen

The legend of Lemuria the mysterious island and all its wonders and dangers are all too real, and it has been found.

But the ancient stories of the great treasure and horrors that existed through the ice rift and beyond Odin’s Gate could never have prepared them what they discovered – monstrous creatures that lived in the sea, in the air and on land. And now Troy Strom and Anne Walsh are trapped there among them.

But they have a plan, and if they can retrieve the Heart of Odin, a massive ruby, they can use it to escape. Until then, they must learn to live on a primordial island among horrifying life forms that defy the normal rules of evolution. To survive, they need to travel into the dragon’s lair and find the truth about the ancient drekka of myth and what it guards, and also discover the fate of the first Viking clan that set foot there and what they had become.

Terrific!

This was even better than the first book!

The new characters, creatures, and crevices made it a delicious listen.

Needless to say I cannot wait for the next book.

PS As Bluey and Bingo say “could he have a bit of romance” for Anne? ;)

A fun story and better than the first book

The narrator is boring and can’t do voices well. But at 1.2x speed it was alright. A fun story and interesting take on the mysterious island. I will be reading the 3rd book in the series.

Excellent until the end - Mild spoilers

I love this author's books and have most of them in my library, but this one took an unexpected and unfortunate turn. The hero turns into a complete idiot at the end. For somebody who is supposedly a CIA agent trained in evaluating behavior, he acts like a teen who just got to second base for the first time. It was annoying as hell and made me lose all respect or empathy for him. And if you stop caring about a character, it's really hard to start caring about them again.

All of the other stuff that brings Beck's fans to his books is here aside from that: wild creatures, great narration, outrageous story, and plenty of twists and turns. I hope that Troy is less of a blithering fool in the sequel, because he's lost all credibility at this point with the way he's acting around Elle.

Great story, hated the main character

Reader great, story pretty cool! However, as other reviewers stated the main character was an ahole, he was supposed to be an experienced operative and behaved like a stupid hormonal 14 year old, frustrating. I got so tired of it I skipped the last couple of chapters to the epilogue.

Mysterious island: Beyond Odin’s Gate

This is book two of the Mysterious Island series by Greg Beck. This, like the first one I found very entertaining with the tails of Vikings and dragons as well as dinosaurs

Another great performance and story

I can’t say enough of the books from greig beck and Sean mangan. I’ve listened to all of Becks books and can’t even number the books I have that mangan read. Thank you for the epic story’s and the talents of mangan brings them into the minds eyes. Thank you both.

Awesome Story Exactly What I've Come to Expect

Greig Beck has an amazing facility for telling a story without being overly wordy or needlessly pretentious with odd vocabulary. He has an amazing method of character development that feels as though your journey with the characters brings you into their trials and tribulations and builds a sense of worth. even with the villains or antagonists. Keep it up, Greig! I have yet to read a story of yours that I haven't loved!
