About this listen
It’s a difficult world for law firms these days.
Client demands, increased competition, and the distractions of technology can put pressure on any business.
Law firms who try to respond to with “traditional” ways of firm management are perhaps more susceptible than any other business to falling victim to the chaos.
But fortunately, there’s a solution.
And it’s found not in traditional law firm management methods, but in the practices of some of the world’s most efficient and forward-thinking manufacturing companies who learned - long ago - the power of lean methodologies and systems thinking.
Far from a dry listen, The Lean Law Firm is the first book published by the ABA to employ the novel to teach business lessons.
Follow the engaging story of lawyer Carson Wright, who suddenly finds himself responsible for saving a small law firm, as his mentor Guy Chapman imparts the lean techniques that transformed his factory from the brink of bankruptcy to new heights of profitability.
As you hear the The Lean Law Firm story unfold, you’ll see how your own firm is really just a system.
You’ll get an immediately usable template for making that system lean and efficient. And, from your new understanding you’ll reap not only financial benefits, but a renewed enthusiasm for running your firm.

Story
Do you know the number one secret to getting more law clients? Marketing is always evolving. Forty years ago, lawyers couldn’t market. Then along came Bates v. Arizona state bar, and attorneys rushed to radio stations, local TV, and the phone book in search of that once-in-a-lifetime case. Then the internet happened, bringing us search engine optimization, pay per click ads, and social media. Every lawyer I talk to has tried one (or more) of these, but they feel like they’re just throwing money away. And most of the time they are.

Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Story
The Strange Death of Europe is a highly personal account of a continent and culture caught in the act of suicide. Declining birth rates, mass immigration, and cultivated self-distrust and self-hatred have come together to make Europeans unable to argue for themselves and incapable of resisting their own comprehensive alteration as a society and an eventual end.

Law is not that different.
So often o have heard, “the practice of law is different. Every case is unique.” The authors break that myth and show that, while every case is different, every case is the same. By breaking it down, they are able to build it up. By examining the pieces, they teach you how to analyze, monitor and improve the processes in your practice. They use powerful tools and a backbone story that make these tools real. A good read (or listen) and very helpful. If you want to help clients, and do it more effectively, this book will help you do it.

Systems mindset
This book was great for creating a systems-oriented mindset and reminding you that speed and efficiency not only helps your bottom line, but also benefits your clients. Highly recommended for any law firm owner, particularly those with a contingency or flat fee practice.

Very Helpful
Solo Practitioner here and I gleaned plenty.
This is not a book about how to get more clients, it’s about how to run a better practice.
Very easy listening and worth the price.

Great Book! Systemized my firm!
This is a great book for anyone that wishes to have more order.
Although the author took the storytelling a bit too extreme it is still interesting and I have enjoyed it as well as took some valuable insights.
The Kanban system totally helped us systemize everything and be more organized.
All in all, a highly recommended read.

Generalistic and Obvious
Struggeled to reach the third our, found the content boring, obvious and generalistic. Returned.
